Analysis: Syria's al-Assad regime in trouble

(CNN)A series of victories by Islamist rebels against the Syrian regime is raising the prospect of a sea change in the momentum of a war in which the endurance of Bashar al-Assad has for years seemed to many as a given.

Substantial territorial losses by the regime in the northern city of Jisr-el-Shugur and beyond, after the city of Idlib also fell to rebels, coupled with a relatively successful series of advances around the southwest of Damascus, are the result of new levels of cooperation among rebel groups that have spent the past years fighting each other for supremacy, to the detriment of their campaign against al-Assad. The rise of ISIS had also provided another obstacle to more moderate rebels in their fight against the Syrian regime.

Assad may be a son-of-a-bitch, but in this fight we should make him OUR son-of-a-bitch! KILL THE ISLAMISTS!

We got rid of Saddam. We got rid of the Lebanon dude. One was taken out by a republican. One was taken out by a democrat.

Both had the support of McCain.

We will rue the day we took out these dictators.

Don't forget the Shah of Iran, and more recently, Gaddafi. Every leader who has opposed militant islam, we have taken out. It's almost as if the US is acting as a hit man for the radicals.

There is but one exception: Egypt. President Sisi is a bold, and a very brave, man. I wonder how long it will be before the US betrays him.

All the more reason Lord Foul and his demonrats will redouble their efforts to remove him.

Look at it this way, he still has all the valuable coastal areas, with the oceanfront hotels and the casinos which are controlled jointly with the Corleone family, as per Hyman Roth. So, he has that going for him.

Assad should retreat to the coast and Damascus. Rest of Syria can become Jihadstan.

We took out Mubarek and put the MB in power. The Egyptian people stood up and took them out.

1/3 of Syrian Alawites of military age are dead, thanks to the civil war Assad started. Some of them weren't even killed by the regime.

Assad screwed himself by allowing Syria to be used as a staging ground, safe haven and base of training and operations for al -Qaeda during the Iraq war.

A lot of American blood is on Assad's hands and the he is largely responsible for the protracted insurgency in Iraq.

Once al- Qaeda failed to take over Iraq, they decided to take over Syria instead and they have a very well organized base of operations there to do so.

That said, I'm for Assad in over al-Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood in this fight.

Similiar to what happened to the Confederacy during the American Civil War. They simply lost their will to fight. Will the Alawites allow all of their sons to die?
