Actually, I would much prefer that John Bolton ran for a cabinet office. There are at least a dozen major government agencies that need profound attitude adjustments, and he would seem to be the right man for the job.

I doubt it as well, but these guys don’t have to get many votes to impact the nomination process. You get ten guys pulling down 3% and it makes a big difference.

When people were floating do-nothing hack John Thune as Presidential material in 2012, I thought it would be fun for Bolton to run and get some revenge for Thune destroying his Ambassadorship career by going after Thune in the Presidential primaries. Still, even in 2012, Bolton wouldn't have likely won any primaries.

In 2016, Bolton is a non-starter, especially given his caving on gay marriage. Still, I hope he returns to foreign policy in a future Republican administration.

The difference is that Condi sucks on foreign policy as well as social issues. She was a lousy SOS, whereas Bolton would likely be a good one, just as he was a solid UN Ambassador. Nobody would be talking about Condi if she weren't a black female, as much as some "conservatives" continue to deny that fact.

I think Bolton has his head screwed on straight when it comes to foreign policy, though like you I suspect I might have some problems with his other outlooks.

Rice outed herself for me urging restraint from Israel every time a terrorist attack took place. One wonders how much restraint she would urge if it was her family members being blown to bits.

Ahh, but those family members would be Black not Jewish. My mistake. /s
