Amy Yensi has more on the recent surge in violence.

Its time to stand up and to say that enough is enough, said Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.
Our media partner, The Baltimore Sun, reports May was tied at the number three spot with August of 1990 with 42 homicides. This after two men were fatally shot in the head on Belair Road early Sunday morning.
By the afternoon, a record set four decades ago shattered.
There are a small number of individuals that define the perception of this city, a small number of individuals with no code of ethics, who are killing babies and killing women, said Baltimore City States Attorney, Marilyn Mosby.
We have lives that are at stake, said Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony Batts.
City officials hope to turn the ride on the troubling pattern, but say it cant happen if the police and the community dont work together.
At a time where the cries for justice are ringing loud not just in Baltimore, but all over the country we know that without the community, there can be no justice, the mayor said.
Record breaking violence for a month that ends Sunday. Many are hoping for peace, despite this deadly trend.
August of 1972 and December of 1971 are the top two deadliest months for Baltimore City, with 45 and 44 homicides, respectively.
very close to three hours to go....yet this month...
Enough is enough. The administration has to support the police, and not demonize them in order to support obam’s goal of nationalizing all police forces.
From watching the riots, I would say there are a large number of individuals with no code of ethics. I'm not at all sure she has one. If she does, it's distorted.
Anybody with any sense has left that hellhole. That crazy mayor is worthless.
“Its time to stand up and to say that enough is enough, said Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.”
And what are you going to do about it, miss give them space?
the state attorney saying it’s a small number of individuals doesn’t really jibe with 43 deaths in one month. that is a lot of individuals settling scores and taking care of business due to the cops being concerned about getting arrested if they do something wrong.
now detectives have to track down 43 killers?
“Its time to stand up and to say that enough is enough, said Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. “
The Mayor will probably start an #enoughisenough twitter campaign to reign in the violence.
Baltimore has written itself a check that its not going to want to cash....
Will the Mayor get a trophy or a plaque for her leadership?
Still time left to break all time record, y’all can thank the Mayor of Baltimore
I don’t see this mayor reaching out to police so I don’t think june is going to be much better
Nothing like “black power” to run civilization right into the ground.
Thanks Obama, your Community Agitating is a wild success.
“...that is a lot of individuals settling scores and taking care of business due to the cops being concerned about getting arrested if they do something wrong....”

Having had a number of encounters with this population, I’ll hazard a guess and say that more of the murders are being triggered by the “...you dissing me?” attitude than by score settling.
As I said before: Hey Baltimore!
Ready my frigging tag line!
P.S. to the Mayor and the MD AG: You can end this. You know what you’ll have to do, and more important, who you’ll have to stand up to. Until then, how’s that karma working out for ya?.
tick tock...
Whut?
Just give them some space. I’m sure there are a few skyscrapers downtown that need to “feel the love”.
Right Mayor?
