He's got the deepest pockets, the best organization and everyone already knows his name.
But Jeb Bush isn't so formidable that he's scaring away the competition.
When the former Florida governor formally announces his presidential campaign on Monday, he will join a field of 10 GOP contenders -- and there are still a handful of others who may soon jump in the race. Meanwhile, the latest Iowa polls show him trapped in a cluster of candidates vying for second behind Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, and he has only a slight edge in New Hampshire. National polls show Bush a touch ahead, according to a Real Clear Politics average.
For all of his advantages heading into the race, the man with the famous last name who many assumed would be an automatic frontrunner is struggling to catch fire.
"Frankly, I thought that Jeb was going to just suck all the air out of the room and it just hasn't happened," said Ohio Gov. John Kasich recently. Kasich is toying with a presidential bid that will hinge largely on New Hampshire.
Bush has struggled under the weight of high expectations, but also the changing nature of campaigns.
"He's stumbled a little bit," said Katie Packer Gage, a Washington-based GOP strategist who was Mitt Romney's deputy campaign manager in 2012.

Maybe, just maybe Bush is struggling because of his political positions with the base..
Nay, can’t be...Must be are too stupid...
So liberal, clueless CNN is tackling the baffling question of why Jeb is struggling. What a joke. I’m sure the reporter is thinking “While I don’t know many Republicans, the ones I do know all support Bush so why is he losing?”
Because he’s an idiot?
Jeb Bush is maybe struggling, because he is an unprincipled weenie who is just “more of the same” about selling off America to the world?
Just saying.
This is part of his problem - a big part. These RINOs surround themselves with loser consultants and 'experts' who do not know anything about real America. They DEPEND on GOPe losing each and every time. Every four years they crawl out from under their rocks and pontificate (I call it PDOOMA -pulling directly out of my a$$) about how establishment Republicanism just has to 'reach out more'. Assimilate more Hispanics, even bring gays under the big tent.
All the while still mealy mouthing about independents and moderates having that big voice, too. RINOs are well-accustomed to self delusion and the lies that have to go with it.
Yet nowhere in their calculus is an introspective examination about why they (GOPe) has pissed off so many conservatives to the point they've abandoned the party. They just prefer to think they can pander to Hispanics, business and big money and everything will be all right.
Not hardly, I'd rather get my butt wire brushed than vote for that Mexican. NEVER, not even.
No more dynasties, on either side: PERIOD.
Jeb is struggling because voters are finally waking up to the fallacy of the rhino elites picking the next president for them. Real people want a real president.
Read my lips, “No new Bushes.”
these are the same ones in the MSM that can’t figure out why crime has skyrocketed in Baltimore in recent months,
>>So liberal, clueless CNN is tackling the baffling question of why Jeb is struggling. <<
I guess they missed CPAC.
See what happens? You miss one meeting and everything changes and you don’t know why.
Well said,
we don’t want to be force fed ‘gentleman jeb, the pre-designated hillary loser’
How about nobody wants a squishy RINO except the big money people that don’t care about the country just their bottom line.
because he is a democrat trying to run as a republican!
It's astonishing just how un-politically savy professional politicians can be.
“Frankly, I thought that Jeb was going to just suck all the air out of the room and it just hasn’t happened,” said Ohio Gov. John Kasich recently.

Doesn’t say much for Kasich’s political acuity.
More astounding is that the media thinks that a relative of a president is a shoe-in.
