His claim that he didn’t try to deliberately mislead people is simply preposterous. His real-time whoppers from Katrina (witnessing suicides that didn’t happen, floating dead bodies, roving gangs) had a devastating effect on then-President Bush. There were real world consequences to Williams’ tall tales. It wasn’t all fodder for late night talk shows. Secondly, Williams refused an opportunity to correct the record on his lies. I am puzzled why he took a slary reduction and demotion to MSNBC. I would think that with his high priced Lawyer he would have negotiated a big buyout of his current 5 YR $10 Million per year contract and gone somewhere else like Dan Rather did.
