42 years and still can’t speak English
They couldn’t even admit in the article that she was “undocumented”.....I’m 100% sure she got a sponsored green card to come here and pick strawberries for us.
This article is disgusting in its celebration, especially in connection with today. Just damn.
What need does she have to learn English?
You make a call to some business, you first get the Spanish gobledegook, then you hear "Press 2 for English". You go to a fast-food joint, the servers are all Spanish-speakers - and some actually may know a word or two of English; if you look like a "gringo", they may motion for you to go to the other line. And so on, and so on...
She must have missed her chance in ‘86.
What she REALLY wants is that Social Security and Medicare she’s been missing out on as an illegal.
Let the chain migration begin.
I believe this changes Social Security benefits as well; I know a couple of green card holders who became citizens long after they were eligible - and they openly admitted it was because they would get more SS as they prepared to retire.
Celebration? This is a failure. She should have been deported 42 years ago.

I’ve been in the US 63 years, about 50 here in CA and I still have never learned to speak Spanish. IO guess I’m just stubborn.

The Catholic Church won’t recoup that money from the next ten generations of her family...They won’t get it from me, either, as I have to pay for her freebies...
Why not? She failed to assimulate. She is no better than the other 30-60 million illegal aliens infesting the U.S. Besides, how can she be a citizen without learning English?! The people that gave her citizenship should be ashamed of themselves, fired, and jailed.
Good question - guess there are exceptions to the requirement to speak English.
