As Republican infighting grows, donors call for calm

WASHINGTON (AP) — Worried about "Republican on Republican violence," top party donors are taking action, with one firing off a letter calling for more civility and another seeking to block businessman Donald Trump from the debate stage altogether.

Foster Friess, a Wyoming-based investor and one of the party's top 20 donors in the last presidential contest, issued a letter to 16 White House prospects and the Republican National Committee late last week calling for candidates to stay on the "civility reservation."

"Our candidates will benefit if they all submit to Ronald Reagan's 11th Commandment, 'Thou shall not speak ill of a fellow Republican,'" Friess wrote in a copy of the letter sent to Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus and obtained by The Associated Press.

Maybe it will be just Cruz and Trump? LOL!

I don’t trust Trump as far as I could throw him but he is right about immigration and I don’t think the GOPE likes anyone talking about that.

They are biting their noses off to spite themselves. This just calls more attention to Trump who will only gain from the PR. Cruz can remain above the fray and smile like a Cheshire cat while the GOPE makes a big mistake. If the rest of them boycott Cruz gains, they lose.

I hope they do boycott the debates. I wasn’t looking forward to listening to all of those useless wannabees anyway.

Christie sounds like he is already getting a bit testy telling Cruz he doesn’t need his lectures. I can picture Cruz playing with a cat and a ball of string. Here kitty, kitty, kitty.

Walker will play nice. For a while. But he has some real down and dirties working for his campaign that will come out when it gets down to the wire. However he is no match for Cruz in a debate. Entertaining.

Is Donald Trump the Ross Perot of 2016?

From the article

Republican donor John Jordan said Monday that GOP leaders should take steps to block Trump's access to the first presidential debate in early August.

Who is John Jordan. Is he one of thousands, a smaller donor or one of the mega donors?

"Who is John Jordan."

Napa wine heir? Looks like he has money to burn.

I'm surprised he's a Republican.

That's a great idea!

What if we did a poll of sorts on ebay where it made some small amount of money - sponsored by ads? Whatever. And found a way to benefit FreeRepublic in the process?

Your points about Cruz are on target, IMO. He’s sitting back and smiling right about now, I believe.

Christie-—the fat, blubbering celebrity-worshiper-—doesn’t understand a basic truth about his one-note blustering. It inspired awe in New Jersey, but no Texan is going to be intimidated by it. Cruz will eat him for lunch in the debates.

Did Reagan abide in this in the primaries? NO! He and GHWB went at it and as a result we got the right POTUS. GOP-E Donors are running scared LOL. Good! We've tried it their way since 1989 and what did it get us?

The only saving grace here is that some people realized the GOP BD was a dead end. Unfortunately some people cling to it ‘no matter what’.

Those people simply aren’t smart enough, or to damn prideful to stand up for anything but their own desires.

Ultimately it doesn’t matter because their Lib is not going to win. there are enough people that are not going to do this crap again and it was proven two years ago. There are more ‘evil purists’ now than then so the lesser evils have exactly one choice if they want to win. Vote with us because we will watch whats left of this mess burn to the ground before we participate in helping libs do it regardless of whose Party fronts that liberal.

Hardball. No remorse. No regret.

SCREW THE ‘DONORS’ - They are the SOLE REASON why we lose. They are pro-LGBT, pro-illegal and pro-sellout to China and Mexico. Conservatives should be protesting outside their homes and businesses and denouncing any candidate who takes their filthy money.

Um, isn't it the RINO candidates who spoke ill of Trump?

I like the way trump is calling out and exposing the PC lies.I say let him keep exposing.I don't want him for president because of his left wing history, but he's planting seeds that make people think about what's really happening around them.
Maybe that's why his poll numbers are so high. People are really sick of being controlled by a bunch of PC fascist.
