Michelle Obama has given a touch-up to the White House State Dining Room, the latest interior design change that will endure long after she leaves the building at a cost of $595,000. Her modest changes to the room where many dinners and other events are held follow this year´s more dramatic remake of the Old Family Dining Room and the unveiling of the Obama china service. The change, which has been years in the making, comes just months after head florist Laura Dowling quit her post and was escorted from the building by security. Now I remember where that thingy around her neck was located previously. ... Knew it looked familiar.

I made a picture like that in Kindergarten with pasta noodles.

That is one ugly room.

The State DR is pretty and I like it better than Hill’s but there wasn’t anything wrong with Hillary’s design either. Maybe the draperies and carpet were fading. The sun can do serious damage to fabrics over the years.

The style of the room goes well with the style of the home. Unlike the family dining room. Being in that room would be like a punishment. Ugh.

At least there are no tribal masks on the walls or giraffe and zebra skin upholstery.

Horse hair chairs to remind us of the horse’s arse that lives there.

Certainly she had to at least replace the drapes since she used the floral ones that were there before for one of her dresses.

“At least she’s spending her own money- wait, what?”

I’m willing to bet that she’s never spent her own money.

FTA: a 1950s-inspired carpet, as an illustration of how the First Lady's tastes have moved on.

1950s? That was never the greatest era in American style. Why would we want to revisit the 1950s?

I think the State Dining room is ugly and cold, as is the family dining room. That is a truly awful rug on the floor.

The WH owns warehouses full of beautiful, authentic, historical furniture that could have been utilized. This is just more overspending by the Obamas.

“Are we sure they’re leaving?”

I suspect Hussein is stirring the pot on purpose to create a situation where he’ll “have to” declare martial law. Once that’s done, he’ll cancel the 2016 election and all following elections. It’s good to be king.

That was my point — to show her impeccable taste and show how she pays homage to the classical designs in her previous project.

As somebody said up-thread, she’s a follower of the Early Tribal design genre. Just another way to jab a stick in the eye of a hundred generations of men and women who created Western Civilization.

When she redid the old dining room, I recall seeing truly hideousmpictipures of the artwork, but can’t find any photos today. Maybe they sent them down the memory hole.
