Because I am involved in Scouting and know that it produces fine men.

Churches lack the where with all to duplicate the process. They have no resources for a national effort. They will piddle around and fail while sanctimoniously patting themselves on the back for their failure.

(MAJOR SARCASM ALERT!) To augment the BSA's almost inevitable move to allow “gays” to occupy the position (and we're NOT talking here about an organizational “position” but a physical one) of Scoutmaster, they will be adding an entire range of new merit programs. Here is the first of the new opportunities for our kids to experience the “gay” lifestyle while earning points toward the soon to be announced new highest scout rank. Evil Scout will replace Eagle Scout.

The only thing sadder than this development is that this sort of crap no longer makes enough folks angry! “Whom God would destroy, he first makes mad.”

No, I don’t think he’s “coming out”...

I just think bert can’t accept that the BSA’s days are now past and is holding on to an institution that in essence, no longer exists.

It may have a corner on many components of the “program” right now, but not for long...smaller organizations are starting to fill the need for faith based programs that emulate what the BSA has had a corner on for decades.

But the BSA has “pissed” (borrowing bert’s words) away its capital by embracing PC and the need to feed itself with donor $$’s.

The BSA will continue, but it has been corrupted by PC...and if any remain within the BSA, they must submit to the PC attributes that the BSA endorses.

Those who resist the assimilation are not welcome by the apparatchiks within the BSA...as is evidenced by some of the replies here.

I cannot disagree with a word you said; however, I would simply call upon members to whom this may apply to follow 2 Corinthians 6:17.

Moreover, all people need to now heed the intrinsic dangers that are now present for their children who may be part of this organization. In the same manner, I would never send my daughter to a Girl Scout camping trip with male leaders.

Finally, throughout the organization’s life, the BSA traded heavily on Christian precepts and attracted many to its organization. People need to now understand and not be fooled into thinking this organization is safe and upholds biblical principles. They do not.

This is going to turn out well.

I was once a proud Eagle Scout and Scout Leader. My Dad was a Scoutmaster for more than 25 years to my very much younger brother and I.

Now, I would not give a plug nickel for Scouts.

Some aggrieved parent is going to sue the crap out of them and bankrupt the organization. They will deserve every bit of it.

I did. Many years ago and I’m not a bit sorry. We were both putting up with Scouting for each other and one day we decided not to. I spent more time as a Scout Leader taking care of snot nosed, Ritalin laced punk kids than I did enjoying time with my own son.

I’m an Eagle with palms. I also didn’t need some PC bleeding heart telling me I was too hard on the boys when I expected them to know their stuff or questioning my qualification as a merit badge instructor. I did more 50 milers than you can count, high adventure and Kit Carson at Philmont.

I also didn’t cotton to a bunch of women, straight and dyke, being around young boys.

I’m sure there are good pockets of Scouting but not for me any more.

My Son now defends the rest of us. He is 1% of 1% and I’ll put his morals, ethics, courage and dedication to all the 12 Scout Laws up against any one.

All you have to offer is weak excuses for an organization from which God has departed.

It matters not at this point HOW er, fabulous the accommodations and digs and camps and lodges etc. They are now godless.

God was supposed to be the keynote here... now He is a footnote that references to “whatever you feel.”
