Instead of attacking Trump personally, question his policy statements, you musty be able to think of three.

Rick had some things going for him in the last election cycle and choked horribly. He just needs to accept irrelevance at this point.

...“In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” - George Orwell

To a truth-hater, truth-telling is “demagoguery.”...

YES and YES!

RE: Rick had some things going for him in the last election cycle and choked horribly

I wonder if he still remembers the three federal agencies he would close if he were President...

My guess is that Trump invoked states rights and this clown spun it to sound nasty.

Well one speculation this article gets right is that the first debate is going to be Trump going after Jebbie with a blow torch. Which is totally fine with me.

And Trump was right when he said that all the army personnel on US facilities should be armed. Maybe we would not have 4 dead Marines in Chatanooga.

Trump is right on this Iran deal also. He gets a lot of stuff right.

All this anti-Trump activity means, Donald Trump is the front runner, regardless of all the surveys and straw polls that get published. Thanks SeekAndFind.

I am not Defending Perry, I am disappointed.

I am disappointed in how easy it is for people to fool so many otherwise learned conservative people. Lately it seems so many people here on FR, feels like a majority even, have fallen for Trump's act. The Trumpsters are out in force, no doubt.

He isn't a true conservative. he is a mouth.

He isn't a conservative at all. He is a guy pushing his brand (ie, his name) by saying things that will benefit him temporarily. He has no record of being a conservative, in fact it is just the opposite. He knows how to push people's buttons, throw red meat out with reckless abandon, and keep his name in the spotlight. He will not win the GOP nomination, will never be President, but knows he can build his "the Donald" brand with few long term consequences.

I will say it is refreshing to see someone not back down to the PC police, but it's only temporary. Trump says and does whatever is useful to Trump at the time. He admits this himself with his excuse for giving so much money to Democrats and talking up Hillary and Obama - "well, I'm a businessman I have to do those kinds of things, it's smart business". How is that any different than when he completely contradicts his current policy stances down the road with "well, I was running for President, I have to do say those kinds of things, it's good politics"? And why is Trump given such a pass on his past liberal stances and contributions, yet so many here wouldn't give the same kind of pass to Walker, Perry, etc?

the states should fend for themselves on border security

Heck, just let the people who own land that borders messyco defend their property. Take off the gloves. M1A with night scope would be good border security.

Or to put it another way, what does Trump have that Cruz doesn’t? Why do we need Trump when Cruz is running?

Why did Perry have to start his statement with a lie? He says Trump would make each state pay for its section of the border wall. What a bald faced lie! He said he’d have a wall built and make Mexico pay for it.

Reading between the lines of what he said, I get a feeling there would be some alterations made to NAFTA, which seems to give Mexico the goldmine, and we get the shaft.

My feeling would be, “O.K., everything from cars to Colgate’s toothpaste are being made in Mexico and then shipped up here; sans taxes, tarrifs or any other benefit to us.

We need a wall. Mexico needs people up here to buy their cars and other stuff. So Mexico will build and pay for the wall, to our specs. Behind the scenes Ford, GM, Colgate’s, et al may be the ones who ACTUALLY pony up for the wall, but it will come from Mexico. That’s how NEGOTIATION works. What we’ve has heretofore was capitulation, with undoubtedly a little selling out and palm greasing as part of it.

what does Trump have that Cruz doesn’t?

High percentages in polls

Name recognition amongst the LIV's

Do you want to win? You have to have the polling numbers. Doesn't matter how great the candidate is, must have recognition.

The nominee of the Republican Party will not need further name publicity before the election. I don’t understand your point? Do you think the Media will forget to report about the election?

The smart thing to do would be to nominate the best person for the job. That is true conservatism.

Perry is a big fat liar. He did NOTHING to eliminate the illegal community outside his governor’s office east facing window. Texas gave him the boot and it’s about time the nation wake up and take notice he’s nothing but good hair.

Perry, get lost.

Right you are! When he was governor he could have done many things unilaterally, he choice to do NOTHING. At least “The Donald” is bringing up the issue that Perry and the rest of the RINO is too afraid to address.

Obvious, the talking points have gone out and include the word “demagoguery.” I’ve seen that word mentioned about a dozen times today.
