The Hillary Clinton campaign forbid young supporters from talking to the press at an event last night in Iowa:

"Here's what struck me," said Susan Page of USA Today, "when I read the coverage in the Des Moines Register this morning. Jennifer Jacobs, who's been on your show, was covering this last night. Big demonstrations outside of young people for O'Malley and Hillary Clinton. She went up to the Clinton supporters -- these are protesters for Clinton -- and they were told they were not allowed to [speak to] a reporter."

So these words are now off the table: "polarizing," "calculating," "disingenuous," "insincere," "ambitious," "inevitable," "entitled," "over-confident," "secretive," "will do anything to win," "represents the past," and "out of touch."

You’d think a lot of young supporters would become ex-supporters after such an order. I guess they were made to feel like they were important top-secret operatives.

So the young Clinton supporters were told not to speak to reporters, and so they didn’t. Now, that’s interesting. I can see only two reasons why they would blindly follow those orders.

1. They cannot think for themselves. The Clinton Youth, maybe?
2. They were paid to be there, and they do not want to lose the next job.

In 1992 the Bush/Quayle Campaign did the same thing to its young supporters during the Houston Convention, I recall.

The Clinton Campaign jumped all over it, portraying it as evidence that Bush/Quayle and Republicans were completely out of touch with not only America's youth, but also their own young activists.

A good research project if anyone is willing to go back nearly 25 years to look for the MSM coverage of it.
