I love how they spin this.

Trump said he was a Hero because he was Captured.
That Statement is 100% true.

Every time I have ever heard McCain and Hero mentioned in the same Sentence, it was in the context that he was Captured and held by the North Vietnamese.

It was not because of his exemplary Service Record, although I look upon every Serviceman as Heroes.

McCain served, I didn’t, so I will leave it at that.

I actually had a sum of money in a Lincoln Savings and loan back then...and successfully got all my money out.

Others did not.

Does anyone see the association of McCain..with 4 other CORRUPT Dims?!?!?!?!?

This guy has been a disaster for the country...and should be in jail.

Period.

Thank you.

This guy comes very close to Jane Fonda territory with me.

He should know why we support our veterans, particularly our Vietnam vets.

Well, I went to the trouble of doing a little research on your Sampley. Appears to me that he’s a provocateur and makes his living by making outrageous statements. If you believe this guy I suggest you need to put a few more wraps on your aluminum hat.....

"During a news conference after his appearance, Trump did not apologize but tried to clarify his remarks: “If a person is captured, they’re a hero as far as I’m concerned. I don’t like the job John McCain is doing in the Senate because he is not taking care of our veterans.”"

Then he should have said that, instead if taking a shot at every single POW.

What a POS Trump has shown himself to be.

It wasn’t a slam, it was a poorly worded joke

Trump has every right to criticize McCains senatorial record and should keep going

Being a POW does not absolve a man of being criticized for being a political jerk ..... McCain is quick to use the term “crazies” on Trump or anyone else who is trying to preserve our national sovereignty

McCains service record was actually abysmal and if he had not been a son of privilege he might not have made it thru the Academy and might have been grounded or booted off flying status

However that is another matter and not an issue for Trump to comment about any further, given the many many issues our country is facing

McCain rode his daddy’s coattails, ratted out his frllow prisoners to get preferential treatment, did jack squat for them when he left, and was quick as a bullet to normalize relations with Vietnam.

Sampley was in the right, as is Trump.

“While not an achievement, getting shot down and becoming a POW is not a subject for mockery, no matter what his politics.”

By itself? Absolutely not. But McCain has a habit of giving false impressions and treating it like an accomplishment...and that part I have rather less issue with being mocked.

“But sometimes it’s unavoidable.”

Sure...but it’s also at the trail of a series of things, and not how he has presented it, for years. He definitely has treated it like an accomplishment.

I certainly give him MUCH more credit than someone like Gore who went as a typist with a body guard - but did go - who I give MUCH more credit than someone like Clinton, who not only didn’t go but was involved in avidly participating in a propaganda tour for the communists.

“I’m not defending McShame but POWs in general. Have you considered that surviving captivity might be an achievement? “

Yep. And few I’ve met treat it as he has. One should also note that even if his conditions weren’t directly harsh after the first few days, he still had to deal with observing what the barbarians did to his peers. But that’s the thing...honor for enduring it, but don’t go treating becoming a POW as an accomplishment, and then using it as a veil against debate.

He’s also not really got a good record of supporting vets in meaningful ways.

At least one was absolutely not his fault, as he wasn’t even in it as I recall. But twice in flight school and being allowed to continue?

Being a pilot of military jets in that era was dangerous even without combat. That said, he shouldn’t have been put in the position and slid through.

McCain has been a national candidate and “voice” BECAUSE he is a wedge in the Party, and against conservatives as well. The media hijacked the 2008 Republican primary. He was their candidate. You might notice that no one that had worked for him previously supported him. He’s volatile, and shoots off random I’ll-informed or slanderous attacks with regularity.

...and yes, uses his having been a POW to shield himself from counterattack sand even rebuttals - treating it like an accomplishment.

No. Trump put down the overstated deflector shield of a mischaracterization being abused to stifle criticism.
