The press preens Chelsea Clinton for dynastic succession
Personal Liberty ^ | 8/7/2015 | Kelley Martin

Whether her mother ever becomes president, it’s fair to say that Chelsea Clinton’s exposure to politics is still in its infancy. The mainstream infotainment media is making sure of that.

Vanity Fair blew it out for Chelsea Clinton for its September issue, profiling the former first daughter in a lengthy fluff piece that invites readers to think of America’s political class as a monarchical, hereditary dynasty.

Chelsea is now 35 — yes, old enough to run for president — and the VF piece didn’t mince words in thrusting her into a political position:

Gone is the Chelsea who tried to blend in as just another Stanford-educated grind. She has fully embraced being a Clinton and is now deliberately, willfully, on the road to greatness. She recently admitted that running for office one day is “absolutely” a possibility. Like every aspiring political-office holder, she found time in the busiest possible moment in life (in her case the first year of motherhood) to write a book: It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going! And, most important, two and a half years ago she put her name alongside those of her parents at their foundation, which has raised some $2 billion since its inception and is now called the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation.

Add to that her “daunting intelligence, her diligence, and her genuine dedication to the job,” and you’ve got the makings of a pitch line for a campaign of some kind.

Whether she ends up staging a presidential run or aspires to an elected office more modest and local — something that might have the trappings, in other words, of making a difference — there’s an air of inevitability surrounding Chelsea Clinton’s eventual political coming out. In part, that owes to her dynastic position.

“Polished, practiced and private, Chelsea Clinton is the closest thing America has to a princess,” wrote The Washington Post’s Jessica Contrera in a piece that’s not entirely flattering. In fact, Contrera observed, Chelsea already appears to have adopted her mother’s strategy of controlling the press:

Her staff denied repeated requests for an interview for this story, saying the best use of Chelsea’s time is discussing the [Clinton] foundation’s work. When interviews are given, they are arranged with the understanding that the reporter will ask Chelsea about her issue of the moment.

Reporters granted time with her could stray, of course, but they rarely do. Everyone seems to have internalized that Chelsea doesn’t have to talk about anything she doesn’t want to. When Elle put her on its cover in May, the fashion magazine’s staffers were warned that if Chelsea was asked about politics or scandals of the past, she would have nothing new to say.

Instead, she is asked the first-daughter questions she has been asked all her life.

Emulating her mother’s style is an interesting predictor of whether — or how — a Chelsea Clinton candidacy might succeed. If America can look past Hillary Clinton’s information-restrictive, substance-free campaign and elevate her to the presidency, there’s no reason to believe it won’t work again and again … as long as there’s a Clinton descendant who’s over the age of 35.

The Clintons are like weeds and need to be pulled out by their very roots!

They're the gift that keeps on taking.

The Kennedy clan has been able to get away with running on the family name for generations. I’m not sure that it holds true for the Clintons.

A liberal princess. Wow. She wants to run on the merits of her daddy? Follow in mommy dearest’s footsteps. Mind boggling.

She needs some DNA testing, along with Hussein.

I remember when the twinkle-toed Lefties got their panties in a wad when Rush Limbaugh was talking about Chelsea, then showed a dog.

We never knew he was being prescient.

I wouldn’t say that “preens” is the appropriate word here.

More like “prunes”......

She has the genetic potential to be the Harlot of Babylon written about in Revelations 18.

Ugh. I just can’t.

There was some interview with her where she said NOTHING. Seriously, she talked about feeling monochromatic blah blah blah and threw around words sooooo far above the average American ‘ s head they surely wouldn’t understand what she was talking about. Silly peasants.

I am sure the butt wiping interviewer was just nodding and smiling like she was witnessing the Second Coming.

Whatever happened to Amy Carter? I had high hopes that she would enter the political scene to keep that Carter dynasty going.

And too bad about Billy. He could have been a contender. Or at least he could have made it in Hollywood. Billy, we hardly knew ye!

I don’t know, but I am pretty sure that Bill is her father, it’s other people without the last name “Clinton” that are friends of the Clinton family that you might start wanting to test.

Most leftists have an IQ that is just above room temperature, regardless of what their sheepskins say.

Wow!

As in Bow-wow.

I now know who the White House dog was.

It wasn't Chelsea.

I can still remember when Hillary was introduced to us as the “ smartest woman in the world”. Now we have to deal with Chelsea,s “ daunting intelligence”. Give me a break!

Those “reports” on NBC were a laugh.
Monotone, pointless weeper pieces, usually on Friday where they could be buried by the weekend.

The Clinton machine only works if they can deliver the goods. Bill and Hillary! need Chelsea to get the swag. Their daughter will be the next Senator from NY. That’s why they wanted Weiner there. He’s their pet.
