Roger Ailes to Donald Trump: 'We resolve this now...or go to war'
CNN Money ^ | August 14, 2015 | By Brian Stelter

Posted on 08/14/2015 10:43:15 AM PDT by Brad from Tennessee

Fox News chairman Roger Ailes woke up Monday morning thinking that his network and Donald Trump's campaign had reached an understanding.

After a weekend's worth of stressful phone calls, the tacit agreement -- he thought -- was that Trump would stop attacking Ailes' biggest television star, Megyn Kelly, in interviews and tweets.

Then came an ugly surprise. Trump said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" that he thought Kelly should apologize to him.

"This was the final straw for Roger," according to a source close to the situation.

Ailes' office called Trump's office. We "can resolve this now," Ailes said to Trump, "or we can go to war."

As we all know by now, war was averted. There is mutual respect between the two master negotiators. Trump has stopped criticizing Kelly. And Fox has stopped ignoring Trump on its shows. ailes trump truce

But if this is a truce, it's a tenuous one. In recent days Trump loyalists have leaked unflattering claims about Ailes, and Fox staffers have privately likened Trump to a crazy person.

With detente in place, each side is now being more careful with their words. . .

according to a source close to the situation

Look at how quickly FReepers get suckered into this story by a competing network that has NEVER been trustworthy, has ALWAYS been sympathetic to only the Left, using anonymous sources!

I would see it the other way around, long term it would have killed FNC’s ratings as they would have been shown for being totally in the biased left wing media camp and still may before this all shakes out.

Ailes to Trump: We Resolve This Now... Or Go to War!

Probably BS. A figment of some PR guy's imagination to get a little more milage from the issue.

Also this is the 3rd or 4th time this has been posted to FR. Days old. BS then, BS now.

It’ll be a war like the one Jack Benny had with Fred Allen.

A few Fred Allen quotes for those unfamiliar with his humor:

“Committee - a group of men who individually can do nothing but as a group decide that nothing can be done.”

“I’d rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.”

“An actor’s popularity is fleeting. His success has the life expectancy of a small boy who is about to look into a gas tank with a lighted match.”

“It is probably not love that makes the world go around, but rather those mutually supportive alliances through which partners recognize their dependence on each other for the achievement of shared and private goals.”

Ailes' office called Trump's office. We "can resolve this now," Ailes said to Trump, "or we can go to war."
If that is even real, it's obvious that the Trump response would be, "you've already gone to war with us."

Trump is such a whiny baby. That’s why he didn’t run for Mayor of New York after announcing that he was going to and creating a big media stir...he couldn’t take the heat.

Buh’bye, Donald.

Unless Trump wants to pass a law saying men MUST call women ‘pigs’ it's NOT AN ISSUE.

Closing the border matters.

Getting trade deals that don't screw American Industry matters.

Controlling the national debt matters.

Bringing back jobs matters.

If in his private life he and Rosie don't get along it does NOT matter. It shouldn't be part of the debate. Put it in a gossip magazine... but leave it out of a national debate.

Oh - and now that Tucker is gone the FOX morning show is fluff... Morning Joe is better... much better.

That’s a good one. Fox has jumped the shark. Its lost a lot of its credibility.

Its amazing how much damage can occur in just a few hours. Fox is damaged goods right now. Management had the opportunity to clean this mess up but it too failed.

CNN has benefitted greatly from those not watching Fox.

It’s funny, the way the left so often abuses words like war, hit, fight, punch, etc., the way its feminists have done. There’s no war, hitting, fighting or punching. They are only the effeminate, socialist effete talking.

I see that bumper sticker all the time, along with Obama 2008 and Obama 2012 stickers on them.

If I were a leftist I would be delighted at the fact that conservatives are angry at FOX and calling it “Faux News”. I would keep stoking the fires.

I am very skeptical that the posted conversation even took place.

It seems odd that with her supposed “tour de force” at the debate (at least in her mind) that Kelly is the one who, instead of taking a victory lap, is the one who is disappearing for ten days. Not Trump.

I would say advantage Trump at this point. But he has lots of political enemies in the GOP so he had better be ready for more battles ahead. He is a threat to the status quo so they will throw everything at him.

What happened to Tucker? He's gone? Fired? Quit?

This is the first I heard of it.

He was pretty hard-core conservative and had gobs of sharp insights. Oh, no.....

He was the one gold thread in the Fox and Friends morning ball of fluff.

And bear in mind that she said she spent last weekend at the beach. So she needs a vacation after a weekend at the beach? Yeah, right. She was told to lie low for awhile.
