The Army is broken
San Diego Union Tribune ^ | 08-15-2015 | Robert H. Scales

...Sadly, the Army that stayed cohesive in Iraq and Afghanistan even after losing 5,000 dead is now being broken again by an ungrateful, ahistorical and strategically tone-deaf leadership in Washington.

The Obama administration just announced a 40,000 reduction in the Army’s ranks. But the numbers don’t begin to tell the tale. Soldiers stay in the Army because they love to go into the field and train; Defense Secretary Ashton Carter recently said that the Army will not have enough money for most soldiers to train above the squad level this year. Soldiers need to fight with new weapons; in the past four years, the Army has canceled 20 major programs, postponed 125 and restructured 124. The Army will not replace its Reagan-era tanks, infantry carriers, artillery and aircraft for at least a generation. Soldiers stay in the ranks because they serve in a unit ready for combat; fewer than a third of the Army’s combat brigades are combat ready. And this initial 40,000 soldier reduction is just a start. Most estimates from Congress anticipate that without lifting the budget sequestration that is driving this across-the-board decline, another 40,000 troops will be gone in about two years.

But it’s soldiers who tell the story. After 13 years of war, young leaders are voting with their feet again. As sergeants and young officers depart, the institution is breaking for a third time in my lifetime. The personal tragedies that attended the collapse of a soldier’s spirit in past wars are with us again. Suicide, family abuse, alcohol and drug abuse are becoming increasingly more common.

This couldn’t have come at a worst time giving with China’s aggression on the South Sea and Russian Aggression in Ukraine as well as ISIS and North Korea and Iran.

All part of the Obama plan, which is working well.

True and with the current active duty levels those we have are basically being over deployed and over extended. The End Troop Strength levels have been way too low ever since about 1994-96. Just more temptation for rouge in both major powers and third world to test us.

I’ve got news for you, General. The Army is broken in more ways than just aging equipment, lack of manpower and training. The Army, and in fact, every branch of service, is morally and ethically corrupted from the top down to at least the Division level equivalent. We no longer have a serious total war fighting force. We have only small elements of a total manpower base weaker than what we had post Vietnam still able to deploy and fight. What we do have is a large social engineering agency filled with people out of uniform directing diversity and anti-Christian policy on those wearing uniforms, who pretend to be an effective military force while being experimented with by the left.

The result of a collapsing welfare state and short sighted leadership in DC.

"Sadly, the Army that stayed cohesive in Iraq and Afghanistan even after losing 5,000 dead is now being broken again by" a bipartisan, socialist consituency continuing to insist on outrageous government spending on civilian incomes. They reject the only candidate who has a real record of cutting civilian government spending in favor of several socialist candidates in the Republican Party.

And most political/regulator constituents in both political parties have trolled the Net all along against taking needed action in Iran.

Trump or any of those candidates agreeing with him would further turn my country into Soviet Balkan Germanistan, but that situation wouldn’t last long for them. With their preferences in office, the default process will complete.

Here’s a little hint for everyone. All these warriors being drummed out of the service can be hired by states and local communities to create militias or state guard units.

Combat generals can probably be hired for $500,000 per year, while platoon and company commanders go for less. The grunts - E-5 and below - you can probably hire for, say, $50,000 per year.

You’ll also need to pay for equipment, food and lodging.

An idea such as this would require citizens and communities to pay out some modicum of cash annually to ensure a crack fighting force to kick the asses of federal fascist traitors.

What is funny is they said that men need to protect their female battle buddies so how can they be effective fighters if they can’t protect themselves in the barracks?

So glad that the Good LORD got me through 20+ years and led me to retire and get the heck out of the military. The crap going on in the Army today would get me kicked out, I’d quit on a career in the Army, or they would probably have court-martialed me for not supporting the Obama homo policies. Thank You again Jesus for bringing me home.

Get the illegals out of our country and there will be jobs for Americans, and no need to pay the unemployed welfare and food stamps. The illegals and their kids are destroying public and education budgets while the treasonous businesses that hire them need prosecuted to the fullest extent.

Multigenerational USA WASPS are made second class in USA now too by recent immigrants and corrupt politicians who suck up. We the plurality and majority don’t even get a seat at our own Supreme Court, while the viewpoints from our minorities are boundless.

I have no proof of this, but I suspect what is left of military leadership after cuts are liberal supporters of Obama. The conservatives that remain fear that they will lose their jobs or will not advance if they speakout. Meanwhile the RINOs in congress do nothing.

You may have no proof, but you may very well be onto something. I have long suspected these same things.
