For more than a century, the tallest mountain on the continent was named after the 25th U.S. president, William McKinley.
Now, in honor of Alaska's indigenous Athabascan people, who had always called it "Denali," President Barack Obama is changing it back, the White House said in a release Sunday.

The people of Alaska refer to the mountain as Denali. They have been trying to get it renamed for decades. This is not being forced down their throat, it’s one of the few things Obama’s done that they would probably approve. Even if it was likely accidental.
I don’t have any trouble with the name change back to the original, it’s the pandering and race agitating I object to.
Why not call it Glorious Jihad?
Someone who respects the history of the last century can name it back as soon as the power is there.

Like Cape Kennedy....the locals resented some uppity Yank’s name was tagged to their land and fought hard to restore it to the original name “Cape Canaveral.”
