A Once-Sunny Jeb Bush Appears Irked in Donald Trump’s Shadow

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, N.Y. — When Jeb Bush stopped by the Hampton Synagogue here on Saturday, he was expected to offer a critique of the Iran deal and a short version of his stump speech to the Orthodox congregation.

But something else was on his mind: the insults hurled at him by Donald J. Trump.

“I’ll just give you a little taste of the ‘low energy’ candidate’s life this week,” said Mr. Bush, referring to the stinging taunt Mr. Trump has repeatedly used to describe him.

Mr. Bush then spent a minute and a half reeling off the cities he had visited since Monday — among them McAllen, Tex.; Salt Lake City; Denver; Pensacola, Fla.; Birmingham, Ala.; Greensboro, N.C. — and noted that, earlier in the week, he had risen at 6 a.m. to go running with former members of the Navy SEALs near the Virginia coast.

“The ‘low energy’ candidate this week has only been six days, 16 hours a day campaigning with joy in my heart,” he said.

But Mr. Bush does not seem to be radiating much joy these days.

Can somebody tell me when this mope was ever “sunny”? He’s the most depressed middle-manager type I’ve ever seen.

A Once-Sunny Jeb Bush...

When was he ever "sunny"? When he was 8 years old?

Once sunny [uh, ok] but now mostly cloudy on any significant issue. Go home, Bush.

The sappy scion of the Bush Crime Family believes that the Oval Office
is his divine right. How dare some mere billionaire attempt a palace coup!

I actually was reasonably sympathetic to a Jeb candidacy - at least until I found out he (or his handlers) decided his approach to the nomination would involve going around the conservative base.

How’s that working out for you, Jeb?

Always in the history of grassroots Republicans, we have always had to contend with the Establishment telling us who our candidate will be, except in Ronald Reagan where we got the our candidate of choice.

What is happening now with Trump is kind of amazing. I am still a total Cruz fan, but this Trump stuff is really interesting. The leftists in the Republican party are having to contend with their absolute worst nightmare - someone who appeals to the grassroots and gets them activated on overdrive.

Who knows what will eventually happen but isn't it weird how the plans of the likes of Karl Rove, Hillary Clinton and Planned Parenthood are all in the dumper.

Thank you Jesus!

So “energy” is defined by how many cities you visit, the time of day you arise and the fact that you went running with Navy Seals?

Pathetic! It's the energy of your “ideas” that is missing. Show some real guts, (like those Seals who ran backwards with 70lb packs so you could keep up), and confront the Media-Political-Government, class that is ruining our country.

Perhaps. As Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton famously bragged she had flown over one million miles. To be fair to Jeb, she never mentioned a morning waddle with the Seals, though.

Señor Jeb is not in Trump’s shadow. He is the dog crap, temporarily clinging to the bottom of Trump’s shoe, that has been squished by Trump as he walked the campaign trail.
