Well, the ACU and the Club for Growth like to bail the moderates out. They rate taxes, etc. and McCain and company vote carefully to inflate their conservative ratings at those agencies. It’s a sham, which is why I came up with the average, so you can compare apples to apples.

Yep...

Guy advocates for arming and funding of terrorist groups, and warrants a 68%.

Wonder what it takes to get at 50% rating?

Presidential assassinations less than three?

Three or more gets a 40%?

People in LA should have voted for a Colonel Maness, instead of ex-Democrat and Republican-light Cassidy.

I agree.

I’ve never put much stock in them. They are interesting to note, just to gauge what public opinion the publisher is trying to move.

What I use them for is to gauge what the publisher is trying to push in the way of public opinion.

Other than that, I agree. They’re worthless.

I think they’re useful to determine who should be removed from office in the next election, who really needs to be primaried, etc.

Start from the bottom and remove as many as possible, to make a more conservative senate.

If the ratings were accurate, sure, I agree.

The problem is, they aren’t.

McCain is not a 68% guy.

If he’s 10%, it was on a day with no clouds, five rainbows, all the planets in a row with a lunar eclipse and it was a February the 29th.

That’s why I created the average, because McCain is certainly not a 91% or 88% guy, and I was tired of these politicians fooling people with their careful voting and boasting of “high lifetime conservative ratings” where they use their votes from 20 years ago to cover their votes this year or last year.

With an average, one senator can be compared against another who you know is conservative, with everything taken into account. For example, McCain and Cruz probably vote similarly on taxes, or life issues, but on everything else McCain votes like a liberal. He uses his votes on conservative issues to cover his liberal ones. And it shows in the numbers, so people can’t be fooled.

There’s really no other way that I could think of to properly rate a senator’s voting pattern, taking everything into account, across the various agencies.

I wasn’t trying to give someone on the forum a hard time. If you worked this up, I’m sure I trust the results a lot more than if it was worked up by a public person or group.

I apologize if my comments seemed to be targeting you. It was an attempt to target the usual subjects.

Sounds like you trust them about as much as I do. I appreciate that fact.

Take care, and thanks for the post.

No offense taken. Yes, I did this all myself a couple of years ago and have been updating it since, so the numbers are as current as possible. People can go to the ratings agencies and look at them themselves and do the math themselves if they want to, but this saves them the trouble. It’s an attempt to assess, as accurately as possible, a senator’s REAL voting record, so we all know who to remove.
