Why Marines, unlike Army and Navy, are so against women in combat
Christian Science Monitor ^ | 09/11/2015 | By Anna Mulrine

The Marines made it known this week that they see the idea of women in combat as a disaster waiting to happen. That contrasts sharply with how the Army has approached the topic. It puts the Pentagon in a potentially tough spot.

Washington — This week, the Marine Corps left very little doubt about its view of women in its combat ranks: It does not want them.

A study by the corps released Thursday painted a bleak picture of the effectiveness of women in combat, suggesting they are weaker, more prone to injury, less adept at shooting weapons accurately, and their presence was a potential catastrophe for unit morale.

The day before, an opinion article penned by a retired Marine Corps general suggested that the “mysterious chemistry that forms in an infantry unit” included “clearing the urinals” and “nights of hilarious debauchery” – precluding women.

All of this discussion is just stupid.

Its bad enough our kids have to be exposed to this crap in their public schools—sharing locker rooms with self identified “other sex” kids.

I wish they would just stop.

If they (the women) want to fight so bad, get yourself trained privately and become a mercenary. They are out there. They make good money. And if you do not do your job, you get shot. Potentially from either side.

Try that, and get back to me.

Women in combat has nothing to do with women or combat.

It’s all about politics and that means it’s all about money.

If they were serious, they’d repeal the law of gravity.

That’s what’s really held our forces back!

The Corps; unlike the Army, Air Force, and Navy is always on the ground at the sharp end of the spear.
The Army, Navy, and Air Force certainly have some outstanding Special Operations units, but in general their bulk of forces act in support roles.
Women certainly DO NOT BELONG in the SEALS, RANGERS, or AFSOC.
For all the obvious reasons (strength, speed, endurance, combat stressors, etc.) they do not belong in Marine Corps ground combat units.
Women in the armed forces have a long and honorable service record. Let them do the jobs they are physically suited for and release the men to kill people and break things.

I’m against women in combat and I’m in the Army.

I don’t believe is was God’s intent for women to fight in wars.

A civilized nation does not send its women into combat.

Neither does a savage nation. But a sick one does.

Have every woman who wants the job read about Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone.
If they think they can do the job he did on Guadalcanal, tell them to give it a try.
Hell; I am an old (67-72) Mud Marine, and I am not sure I could have done it.

I can’t explain why but as a Marine every one of us were special. We trained together to be the best and meanest MFs an enemy will ever encounter. In our minds we believe that together as a unit we were. We worked hard and drank hard together. A woman does not fit well into our fraternity. Hey, Gals just let us be who we are. Marines. Stay at home and do your best to civilize us when we come home.

This author is so ignorant of the subject that this article is useless. The facts are that all services, including the Marine Corps, have had females in combat for over ten years. Women are assigned to combat units and have been for a very long time. Any notion that the Marines don’t do that is a fantasy.

The current argument is the combat exclusion for certain units and Military Occupational Specialties (MOS). MOS is military jargon for a job. A unit is jargon for “where I work”. Women can’t hold an Infantry MOS, nor can they be assigned to infantry units. This is true for both the Army and the Marine Corps. The Marine Corps has conducted experiments with women in Infantry training and some women have graduated from enlisted level infantry training, but by law, they cannot be assigned to an infantry combat positions. The Army has not done that, but they have allowed women to attend Ranger School, which despite the name is a leader training course. 2% of the first group of women students graduated, in spite of months of preparatory training to enhance their chances of success.

The coming decisions to open infantry units to women will be made by politicians (both civilians and political generals) for political reasons. Rational judgment will not be applied and the Marine Corps will do what they are told just like the other services.

You may be certain of one thing: both soldiers and Marines of both sexes will die because of the decisions that are looming. The politicians, the liberals, and the feminists will not care, because this is only about political power and they don’t care how many might die in order to achieve their goals.

“The Israeli Army gave up having women in combat units. What makes us so much smarter?”

Did they? This is from last month:

The Israel Defense Forces is expanding the number of female combat soldiers and establishing a third mixed-gender light infantry combat battalion. The first recruits for the new unit, which will comprise half of men and half of women, enlisted on Sunday. The battalion will be named Bardalas (cheetah) and will be deployed along the border with Jordan.

As I recall the IDF sent the sexually integrated units into battle and within hours determined it was a no-go and pulled all the women back. Israel is intent on winning military engagements. the US is intent on ceding power and real estate to whatever enemies it can find or create.

Israel still has an integrated battalion called Caracal.

Israel is a tiny country where all men and women are on the front lines of any major war by default and any major war is fight to the death for national survival with an enemy who is fighting a war of extermination

They also have a conscript army where men and women serve 2 years as national Service.

Israeli weapons and marksmanship and sniper training is done in large part by women and they are darn good. Women can shoot - don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Israel has also shown that women, as a whole, are far less effective soldiers than men - even in conscript army where average level men and women serve.

Women have been shown to be effective in combat but experience has also demonstrated conclusively that many, if not most, women have no business what so ever being in combat. .

Women are totally inappropriate for an elite combat unit where even the best of the best men are highly challenged and combat effectiveness is paramount.

Back in the days of the draft where the US also had a large conscript army, women may have been closer to parity with men who were marginal and unmotivated draftees.

The United States now has an small but very highly trained and motivated professional volunteer military.

Because of the small size of our professional military, we as a nation, can only afford to have the best of the best staffing our military forces.

Despite the contempt elitist liberals have for the military, the United States military has very high entrance standards and they turn away far more enlistees than they accept.

America does not face a shortage of highly qualified men wishing to serve in the military by any means.

There has been a serious drop in physical standards to accommodate women.

Given that our military is limited in size and there only so many open slots, every slot taken by a woman displaces and equally qualified man who is most often physically superior.

To put women into front line combat units, especially ones made up of elite men, is a very bad idea ,if for no other reason , because so few women will make the cut in a unit where only 2 out of a hundred men who try out will make the cut it's just not worth the added overheard associated with supporting women in combat.

In time of war , this will be a huge problem for our country.
