During his “60 Minutes” interview Sunday, Republican presidential front-runner appeared to come out in favor of a form of single payer health insurance for the uninsured ... and openly called for raising taxes on the wealthy.

I could see a logical situation that uses walk-in clinics for a lot of health care. The poor could be assigned to a hospital for emergencies that require hospitalization. There’s actually some of that already going on, with clinics for vaccinations and minor medical situations

The “wealthy”.....the successful business people....will be paying less tax.

Since the top 10% of earners pay 68% of all federal income tax, how does Trump get his plan to be revenue neutral if the rich all pay less and the bottom 50% pay nothing? Who makes up the difference? I think your statement is incorrect. Under the Trump plan, the rich would pay a lower top marginal rate, but would have to pay tax on a much larger percentage of their income due to the loss of deductions. So they would wind up paying more in taxes -i.e., a tax increase.

You don't think he ruled out 'charity' like he would be against it. No.

He said that HE would make deals, and that the government would pay.

If you would listen to the Chicago Tribune interview, he says 'deals' between hospitals or systems. His more in depth views about health care.

The “single payer” they are interpolating out of his comments is nothing other than the Medicaid we already have for the poor.

Except he said that "everybody" would be "taken care of." There is a gap between those who are poor enough to be on Medicaid and those who can afford private health insurance. So, at the very least, Trump's proposal would involve a massive expansion of Medicaid.

Thanks.
Unlike some, I think I’ll read it before commenting on it...

Not if health insurance is made more affordable by repealing Obamacare and instituting more free market reforms.

Also, such middling Americans pay no or very little income tax under Trump’s plan—giving them more resources to pay for their own healthcare.

Conservatives have been hoodwinked by the entire process.

I don’t buy any more of the lies our politicians say.

I’ll happily listen to the interview when I get the chance, but that doesn’t mean I will just ignore these comments.

He is not hawking a single payer plan.

This is an out and out lie.

This is nothing but disinformation bull s—t.

You address it as if it was factual, no objection at all.

That makes you just as bad as the writer.

Tell me, what does dropping state lines so insurance companies can compete nationwide have to do with single payer?

Single payer means one insurance company, the government.

You are either woefully uninformed by choice, or you’re an out and out Liberal disinformation supporting dingbat.

Why the outright lies?

As for raising the taxes on “the rich”, that’s all you could come up with to trash a plan that does away with estate taxes, reduces corporate, business, middle-class, and lower wage earner’s taxes?

It simplifies the tax form. It reduces the need for the IRS.

Gosh, that sure is upsetting isn’t it.

What were the tax rates for the wealthy? What are they now?

Re VA.

Trump has said already he’ll allow vets to go to the private market. Shut down that government run disaster.

The 20% in spending across the board is the comment Trump made that nobody is talking about. That’s going to be a good start and a huge savings.

Exactly.

One of the Fox Business commentators said this is essentially the Paul Ryan Plan. Another said it was “Reagan-esque.”

And that’s Fox, which hates Trump.

Correction:

What were the tax rates for the wealthy? What are they now?

What are the rates now for the wealthy, and what does Trump propose?

What I really liked is that he said he’d go for savings in military contracts. He’s already said he wants, basically, a peace through strength strategy, but there’s at least as much waste and corruption in military spending as in the rest of the federal government.

I’m glad he knows he can pursue both as positive strategies in the same department.

BTW, your stormtrooper nonsense is wearing thin.

You come here and advance the Leftist lies against Trump on a Conservative forum and expect folks to sit back and watch silently?

How is Cruz going to compete without any money?

the Mississippi election showed the GOPe will give street money to DEMOCRATS to defeat conservatives.

You really think the same people that did that are going to hand over hundreds of millions to Ted Cruz?

He’s their worst nightmare.

Well, until Trump. Trump’s got his own money to spend so he is absolutely their worst nightmare.

Cruz has positioned himself well as a VP pick. Trump will likely be a one termer because of his age and Cruz will be nicely positioned from there.

But if we allow another 10 million illegal voters, it’s game over.

Yep, a great immigration policy, a great tax policy, and a platform already known to push most of what we have been asking for for decades, and you out yourself by calling it buffoonery.

Are you calling all FReepers buffoons who support a man that has adopted our goals?

Why yes..., you are.
