I think we have a new party called “The Trump Party”. I like the sound of it for now anyway...

There ARE no moderates ... not anymore

I would say most of Jeb LIV supporters are moderates...

They are comfortable with the very familiar name of "Bush"...

To them, the rest of the electable field are a bunch of scary, mean spirited conservatives, that will take away medicare, food stamps and drink your blood at night...

Yeb's polling indicates those numbers are not that big ... AND, I would add (as I think is true with ALL candidates), there is a percentage that go popular just because someone told them to

THAT wishy washy voter is so easily culled from ANY camp.

Trump is more gaffe-prone, has more potential baggage from his past that could come up (e.g. marriage issues, disgruntled employees) and leads the pack of GOP contenders in unfavorable ratings with the general public.

Those are big risks to assume for an uncertain reward, with a candidate who was described as being not conservative just a few years ago by commentators as reliable as Mark Levin and Michelle Malkin.

“I think Melania and Ivanka sat down and had a heart to heart.”

I’ve long suspected that Melania and Ivanka have a big, POSITIVE, influence on him. I have no inside information, but just a suspicion. And they both are not only intelligent, but have good instincts too.

Therefore, GG, I bet you’re right.

Here’s my take on this new spin of him being more Presidential.

In a field of 17 candidates you need to be the biggest mouthpiece to set yourself apart from the field.

He did that.

You need to start clearing out the bottom feeders and get that ridiculous notion of a “kids table” debate swept away. With Walker (Not who I wished to see go.) and Perry (No loss.) gone the rest of the candidates will drop by the end of October.

Jindal, Santorum, Pataki and the fey Lindsey should all be gone. Boom, you’ve cleared out the first round of bottom feeders.

Time to grow up and get serious.

Next round, start tying funding and donor stones around the necks of every GOPe candidate and watch them flail and drown. This is going to be the lynch pin of winning primaries. Tie the political class candidates to special interests and the lobbies that are paying for them.

Highlight every single major donor you’ve turned down that your opponent has not. Hang K Street out to dry and make it as big a political bugaboo as any social issue or political misstep quote.

The people know all this stuff exists, they know that they’re all crooked and beholden but not which candidate is funded by whom.

Tactically this is the political strategy I’d use.

Agreed...many of my family and friends know I follow politics very closely....I can’t tell you how many asked me who to vote for in 2012...

They basically woke up on election day without a clue...

I’m afraid there are literally millions of them that are going to vote in 2016...based on what news show they watched...on Monday night...

It’s what I’ve suspected all along, Trump’s approach has gotten him this far, but he is going to have to adapt as the campaign changes. I think this is a good sign that he’s able to do just that.

I would think that Trump only signed it with the agreement that the support went both ways.

He is no dummy.

The one thing I disliked the most about GWB was that he was too much of a gentleman to defend himself and fight back against the lies told.

My take is that he is realizing that he needs to win the election in order to accomplish anything, and that some of his rhetoric may turn some voters away.

All true. The first thing I did when it was rumored Trump would win, was to look up his political donations. And he’s donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to high profile Rats. So I know who he is.

But there is something refreshing about him. I saw him on Jimmy Fallon, and I noticed that 1) He can speak to the American people directly, without the media 2) He compliments Americans and makes them feel good about themselves (as opposed to the likes of Jeb who scold us for being anti-Mexican, for example)

I know it sounds excessive - but I haven’t seen a politician like that since Ronald Reagan. Not comparing Trump to Reagan on substantive level, but just in their communication ability, as it pertains to the media.

As far as gaffes go - doesn’t matter, he seems to be above the media.

Baggage? A local college once hired a basketball coach who had recently fell from grace at another program, due to a dui. A lot of people opposed the hire, but ultimately enough people decided that they didn’t care about his past, as long as he could get the job done. I think most Trump supporters are aware that he has a lot of skeletons in his closet, but don’t care. BTW, to me his biggest skeleton is use of eminent domain.

I still plan to vote for Cruz, if given the chance (there has been at least one year in which the Kansas GOP presidential primary was cancelled, due to its already being a lock). But I am enjoying how Trump has changed the race.

Well thinking he should develop a diplomat type tone. But then, I have my pilot voice, my chatting voice and some others I use.
