Donald Trump: I've been 'a little childish' (He's about to shift gears)

Donald Trump admitted Monday that his rhetoric on the campaign trail may not always sound entirely presidential.

"Probably is a little childish," Trump said in an interview with CNN's Erin Burnett at Trump Tower in New York. "But you know what? This is a campaign."

The billionaire businessman defended his style, saying the attacks he's unleashed on his rivals in the Republican presidential field have largely been reactive.

"I'm responding to them. I'm a counter puncher," Trump said. "For instance, (Gov. Scott) Walker was very nice to me. All of a sudden, he hit me and I hit him back. All of these guys. (Sen. Marco) Rubio was very nice to me, couldn't have been nicer. All of a sudden a week ago he started hitting me."

Judy...JR has permitted my many years of whatever to still exist. Yes, JR is a hero...but he is also a kind, decent man.

So good to hear from you.

Hang tough.

There ARE no moderates ... not anymore

What I'VE experienced (so far) is a desire to like Trump

People WANT to like him, but are nervous

Their trepidation is, IMO, easily overcome by Trump's maturation

We're gonn'a be just fine.

“I would prefer a leader that decides to change because he sees the need, or value in changing, not because he was forced by peers or special interests. I also can appreciate someone with a bit of a stubborn streak, not shifting with every gust of wind.”

Well stated - my “sediments” exactly - and worth repeating.
Thanks.

“Stand tall and tough, Trump. This is just a mild test. Wait until you’re head-on with the Left and later with the Islam Radicals, Iran, and Putin. Show us you’re going to counter punch and be more determined and more clever than your adversaries. We’re looking for that.”

I just hope he never, ever apologizes. I’m so sick of everyone being “offended” and demanding apologies. Sick to death of it.

I'm hard of hearing ... I'M louder than most around me

I'm aware of it and try to speak more quietly ... but if I get passionate about something .... I get loud

it is what it is

He may have woke up after getting boo’d at the Value voter summit.

Some if not most of the booing then was against Trump's Rubio comment. I observed at the time that he saw it that way and took note of it. Hence, the remark he gave to CNN today. He's learning all the time and...

He ain't no dummy.

Also, he's a New Yorker. Wussie don't make it there and never have.

I see Trump as a combination of Reagan and Teddy Roosevelt...an America loving, brash "can do", patriotic man, who also knows exactly who our enemies are and wants to make certain that they don't ever win.

Cruz is great, smart as paint. Probably a real conservative but if he is the candidate you may as well start the demonrat inauguration right now... Cruz can’t win.

I like him but we must win this election and Trump is the only one that stands a chance... you should not even have to hold your nose to vote for him. It should be easy and willing.

I am a fan of Cruz. And frankly, Trump’s wiping the floor with Jeb might be opening a door for Cruz.

But here’s my fear, and this fear played itself out with Christine O’Donnell in Delaware and Joe Miller in Alaska:

If Cruz (or Trump) wins the nomination, the GOPe won’t support him - PAC money will dry up, committee money will be diverted, most incumbents will not go to rallies with him, etc. It may even get so severe that the GOPe supports a write-in candidacy (like replacing Miller with Murkowski in Alaska). And, if this were to occur, I think Trump may be better equipped to deal with it - certainly as far as money is concerned, and also he doesn’t seem to need endorsements from other politicians.

I’m still a Cruz guy...but I am liking Trump more and more. BTW, I think Trump erred in signing a loyalty pledge. When asked about it at the debate, he should have replied ‘only if the GOP signs a similar loyalty pledge to me, if I win the nomination’ - the entire Murkowski affair is a cautionary tale.

He so craftily planned to ditch the WWE style name calling just so folks like you could be embarrassed. How dirty can Donald get?

Just catching up with the day.. “We’re all gonna die.it’s single payer...and his tax plan sucks...” chatter. I haven’t had a chance to look it all over yet.

For me his statement about being childish is a step in the right direction.

I'd put Walker on the Trump's Labor Board. You know the one McConnell approved this past April. The one Obama pushed through November, 2012 and was ruled unconstitutional by SCOTUS.

Of course not. They will support a Hillary-Jeb ticket instead.

But Trump will make it up with Democrats.

You can’t be serious. Are you saying humility is Trump’s strong suit? Gimme a break.
