Can the United States Defeat the Combined Military Power of Russia and China?

Posted on 10/12/2015 9:34:55 AM PDT by pinochet

America's power is being tested to a greater extent, than in the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1961.

Russia is attacking the Al-Qaeda linked terrorist organization, the Free Syrian Army, which is a so-called ally of America. China indicated that it will join the military strikes against the anti-Assad forces, because China considers Assad as an ally: http://news.investors.com/ibd-editorials/100915-774990-china-joining-russia-to-humiliate-us-weakened-by-obama.htm

China is now ready to fight to defend its unilateral control of the Spratley Islands in the South China Sea.

Does America have enough military power to defeat a combined force of Russia and China?

Over the past decade, China has come to see America as a broke nation of beggars, that goes to China to seek loans. America's inability to defeat the Taliban in Afghanistan and the insurgents in Iraq, has caused China and Russia to smell weakness. How can America regain its status as a superpower?

I don’t think we could even defeat Cuba with the current CINC in charge.

The only thing the United States can defeat is itself.

How can America regain its status as a superpower?
A heavy dose of national repentance is the starting point.

We borrowed $2 trillion from China so we could invade Iraq. Think that was smart?

With Obama as Community-Organizer-in-Chief, the United States could not even defeat the combined military power of Qatar and a bunch of JV terrorists.

The Chinese have us outnumbered 10 to 1, and we are unwilling to use any of our nuclear weapons no matter what we pretend otherwise.

We would lose and lose decisively and fast in my opinion against the Chinese alone much less the two of them together.

Most current holdings that the Treasury posts online has China at 1.24 and Japan at 1.19 trillion.

Third are the hedge fund holdings (in the Caymans, etc.) listed at 324 billion.

In all ~6 trillion dollars in U.S. debt is held by 'foreigners'.

IOUs to Social Security, etc. amount to another 5.1 trillion.

That leaves about 7 trillion held by the U.S. (grandma, insurance companies, etc.)

Free Traders have made us temporarily dependent on the world so IMO about 50 years of economic isolation, albeit painful at first, would do us a ‘world’ of good.

And, Russia, China, and particularly the Middle East, are in Asia (except the parts that are in Africa, not much better).

“The Chinese have us outnumbered 10 to 1, and we are unwilling to use any of our nuclear weapons no matter what we pretend otherwise.”

As I recall, (and I don’t know if this is still the case), under Mao, they were willing to risk a nuclear war under the thinking that there were (are) so many Chinese, that many would survive. The survivors would rebuild and dominate.

“How can America regain its status as a superpower?”

By returning to policies of domestic prosperity, and being the friends of liberty everywhere but the defenders of none but our own.

You, know, sort of like the Founders advised, over and over again?

The never ending aggression against the world that the NeoCons have spread happens to coincide with the start of our decline. That is not a coincidence.

“1. Sun Tzu said: In the operations of war, where there are in the field a thousand swift chariots, as many heavy chariots, and a hundred thousand mail-clad soldiers, with provisions enough to carry them a thousand li, the expenditure at home and at the front, including entertainment of guests, small items such as glue and paint, and sums spent on chariots and armor, will reach the total of a thousand ounces of silver per day. Such is the cost of raising an army of 100,000 men.

2. When you engage in actual fighting, if victory is long in coming, then men’s weapons will grow dull and their ardor will be damped. If you lay siege to a town, you will exhaust your strength.

3. Again, if the campaign is protracted, the resources of the State will not be equal to the strain.

4. Now, when your weapons are dulled, your ardor damped, your strength exhausted and your treasure spent, other chieftains will spring up to take advantage of your extremity. Then no man, however wise, will be able to avert the consequences that must ensue.

5. Thus, though we have heard of stupid haste in war, cleverness has never been seen associated with long delays.

6. There is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare.”

The business of America is business, not the war racket so vigorously advanced by chickenhawk bureaucrats and parlor marshals.
