Canada's Liberal leader Justin Trudeau rode a late campaign surge to a stunning election victory on Monday, toppling Prime Minister Stephen Harper's Conservatives with a promise of change and returning a touch of glamor, youth and charisma to Ottawa.

Canada's major television networks projected the Liberals' victory and the party was on the cusp of a majority.

While the final vote count was not yet complete, Trudeau's Liberals were on track to win 174 of Parliament's 338 seats, according to Elections Canada.

Trudeau, 43, the photogenic son of former prime minister Pierre Trudeau, vaulted from third place to lead the polls in the final days of the campaign, overcoming Conservative attacks that he is too inexperienced and unintelligent to govern.

Great! The Canadian Dollar will be worth 10 cents in a couple of years

It already looks like Monopoly money.

We are going to be smaller than the Icelandic Coast Guard Reserve after Trudeau gets finished.

Better believe it regarding immigration invasion.

Highly recommend FRiends here visit Toronto, Quebec City, and Montreal while it’s still safe and has a pleasant Quebecoise culture.
Mosques are taking over churches throughout Quebec cities!

Canada can have a bite of the shit sandwich we’ve been force fed for the past 7 years. Real smart canada..........

Yup. Horrible news. Harper is a good guy, from what I know of him. Just a shame...

Does anyone know which party is furthest to the left: The Liberal Party or the New Democrat Party?

Both Canada and France share a fatal french flaw -
Piss poor political judgement in governing themselves.
France elected Hollande during a bad economic downturn 6 years ago.
The idiot then raised the top tax rate to 75%, and chased many wealthy citizens out of the country.

Canada’s economy is fairing poorly, and we can sure as hell expect liberal Trudeau will only make it worse.
But at least we have “free” health care, will be a refrain as Canada enters a lost decade of economic malaise.
BTW: How much you wanna bet Putin celebrates Trudeau’s election by buzzing the Canadian border with his nuclear capable Bearcat bombers?...

Yes, but the NDP is not doing nearly as well as projected. The NDP was expected to influence the Liberals much more than appears to be shaping up. So far, it looks like the NDP might lose 51 seats in Quebec.

Maybe the NDP made a deal to get Trudeau elected.

Yep. It will be like shopping in Mexico, and prostitution will be booming up there.

Wondering if this is wishful thinking on the part of the biased media. It seems to happen quite often these days.

As a Canadian, who did NOT vote for King Justin, it’s an awful bitter pill to swallow, when you’re forced to realise that you are essentially politically irrelevant.

Naw, Trudeau is a known - he is charming and different and so cute and did I mention a raving Lib, all of which are very important when you elect a Prime Minister. Only saving grace - Canadians at least can throw their bum out sooner than we can throw out our bum. Harper is characterized as a Conservative, but there really is no such thing in Canadian politics, is there?

The NDP is much more radical.

The only way to get rid of the majority party leader is through a non -confidence vote on a money bill. This ain’t happening for at least four years under a majority government.
