You know how Donald Trump likes to bring up the polls in his speeches and remarks? I think he may shake that habit pretty soon. Ben Carson has taken a narrow lead nationally in the Republican presidential campaign, dislodging Donald J. Trump from the top spot for the first time in months, according to a New York Times/CBS News survey released on Tuesday.
Mr. Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, is the choice of 26 percent of Republican primary voters, the poll found, while Mr. Trump now wins support from 22 percent, although the difference lies within the margin of sampling error. The survey is the first time that Mr. Trump has not led all candidates since The Times and CBS News began measuring presidential preferences at the end of July.
No other candidate comes close to Mr. Carson and Mr. Trump. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida received 8 percent while former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida and Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard chief executive, are each the choice of 7 percent of Republican primary voters.

You'd think THAT would be the news and not this week's order.
I call BS on this so-called poll. Trump needs to start doing his own polling. I know he has been frugal with his money, but he can no longer trust these pollsters.
Yes sir- Trump rallies have 10,000+. The low-talker manages to snag 7 or 8 who are down for breakfast in the lounge at the Marriot. Sure.
Put differently: “Good news, someone easier to destroy than Trump is now leading” or “There is still a chance for Jeb!” or “Horaay for Carson!! Cause you all know just how much we at the NR love him (as long as he is taking out Trump)”
I think Dr. Carson is great and would be a great POTUS.
But the fact he is a YEC will probably trip him up before gets the nod (it is going to come up as an issue soon) and if he makes it past that it will kill him in the GE.
I would like to see Dr. Carson as Surgeon General in a Trump or Cruz administration.
I think this all about not giving Donald Trump center stage at the debate on Wednesday.
I just don’t believe these Carson polls.
One poll and this clown is declaring Carson the new frontrunner? Real objective ‘journalist’ there.
I call push poll.
Lets see if any other pollsters come up with this result.
View every story through the prism of “how can we get Jeb! nominated” and it all makes sense. They are excited by anyone leading this race that the donor class and the GOPe can more easily take down. Carson is viewed exactly that way, hence the excitement.
On another note, Trump set himself up for this. He kept crowing about how he was leading in all the polls. Someone should have told him that those are the easiest things for the media and his enemies to manipulate, hence robbing him of his biggest claim to fame.
Sound logic, rally turnout picks the winner.
Bingo. The GOPe is so very transparent.
I think that most of the posts are generally accurate, but there will be variations and swings. I think that they are generally useful in determining the mood of the electorate. However, I really think that they may cause more harm than good at times, because too many people are simply bandwagon jumpers whose only real intent seems to be wanting to be able to claim that they are with the winners. That is a poor way to decide who the best candidate will be. And deciding who the nominee will be long before the first votes are cast seems to be a travesty to me.
A post from 10 minutes ago has a poll that’s Trump at 35.6. Carson at 21.7. Not even close.
Er...Mr. Geraghty might want to check out today’s Gravis/OAN and Morning Consult polls before he pops the cork.
Still have to see what happens when others drop out.

“I just dont believe these Carson polls.”
From the New York Times/CBS News survey? If they told me the sky was blue I’d go outside to verify it for myself.
Are we sure Carson’s not their choice? He didn’t affiliate with the Republican Party until he changed his voter registration on October 31, 2014.
His top advisor, top outside campaign adviser, Armstrong Williams. is with Farrakhan, wrote an article n October 5 titled “The Nation of Islam Could Be Chicago’s savior.
Carson’s for amnesty, waffling on abortion til he’s swung all the way to the right with no exceptions, etc.
My question is, couldn’t he be the GOPe/Democrat failsafe in case Jeb floundered? His only real conservative credentials are remarks he made at a prayer breakfast about healthcare, his field.
I’m not saying this to put Carson down, but I do believe his beliefs are a lot closer to the GOPe position’s than most people realize. I know that seems like a conflicted statement, but I don’t dislike Carson. I just think he’s mistaken that he’s a breath of fresh air.
I’m not convinced the GOPe dislikes Carson at all.
My take on it is that he would fit in well with the McConnell/Ryan Congress. What would the GOPe find wrong about that?
Folks, we’re being set up for another defeat of Conservatism, as surely as we’re sitting at our keyboards punching out posts here.
The effect of the actions of some people who think themselves Conservatives, may be paying off for them in ways some of us tried to tell them it might.
Well, if Carson gets the nomination, don’t expect a wall, don’t expect illegal immigration to be addressed in a positive way, and essentially buckle up for another presidential term where the national debt goes up by another $10 trillion.
If this happens, all the Trump detractors will have averted exactly what the GOPe feared most.
