Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill would back Ben Carson if he wins the GOP presidential nomination. Carson has overtaken billionaire Donald Trump in some polls, and congressional Republicans said Tuesday that they would support the new front-runner if he secured the nomination next spring.
A day before Carson and the rest of the GOP field is set to debate for a third time, in Boulder, Colo., nearly every member of Congress who spoke to the Washington Examiner said Carson could count on them for support. "I'm going to support whoever's the GOP nominee, and I know Ben Carson and I like him," said Missouri Sen. Roy Blunt, the Republican Conference's vice chairman.
In the past week, Carson, a world-renowned surgeon but political novice, has usurped Trump's lead in Iowa, with four separate polls showing him ahead. Trump was also seen trailing Carson in the latest CBS/New York Times national poll released Tuesday. It is first time Trump has not led the field since July. Blunt's comments were mirrored by three other senators when asked whether they would get behind Carson as the nominee if he won it. Sens. Pat Roberts, Tom Cotton and John Barrasso, who serves as the GOP's Policy Committee chair in leadership, all answered in the affirmative.

Another sleazy NON story pathetically trying to tie Carson to the GOP Establishment. By this standard. Trump and Cruz are both "GOPE insiders" since if they are the nominees, these same people will support them!
Really desperate and sad tactics.
GOP lawmakers: Wed back Carson. So, is the subliminal message We wont back Trump.

Yep. I think so.
Please understand I respect Dr. Carson very much.
The more I get to know him, the more I admire.
But the RINOs are on the Democrat side.
I think he would make the best Surgeon General.
Here what I think, although way early: Trump President
Cruz Vice
Fiorina Sec of State
Carson Surgeon General
Now I’m POSITIVE I won’t back Carson.
“The outrage is that these GOP legislators feel privileged to say which of the peoples choice they will and wont support.”
We should force all of them to sign the same “pledge of support” that was demanded of Trump. And hold them to it under penalty of a primary challenger.
The GOPe thinks that you are prime puppet material, Dr. Carson.
All together now... “G O P e”
wAnd live under tyranny with the gov't in every part of your day, every call, text, tweet, or email. If they get in again, the Constitution is history.
But they would only fall in line half-heartedly if the nominee ends up Cruz or Trump.
Take out Fiorina and that’s feasible.

I think you have a legitimate beef.
That’s right!
“Hillary can beat Carson. “
Or they think they can push Carson around, which would amount to practically the same thing as Hillary winning.

This report is far less GOPe centric than I first thought.
My first comment was probably out of line.
Bunch of damn fools to a man.
He has been incrementally exposing himself more and more as a RINO. Now we know for a certainty.
Additionally, the POS “representatives” of the people know that he doesn’t have any experience dealing with criminal types so they believe they will be able to roll all over him to keep the status quo.
Build up Carson now...only to later take him DOWN and replace with the Joyful Tortoise.
The GOPe has reached the Third Stage of Death: Bargaining.
I’m sure they would.
I’m not going to back either of them.
I’m done with the damned GOP.
