This Bizarre Rule In The GOP Primaries Could Doom Some MAJOR Frontrunners
Western Jouranlism ^ | November 4, 2015 | Jack Davis

As Republican presidential candidates crisscross the nation to win key GOP strongholds, an analysis of the party’s own delegate rules reveals that Blue State Republicans have vast power to pick the party nominee.

That’s good news for pragmatic, moderate Republicans such as a Jeb Bush, but not for conservative or religious candidates, such as Ben Carson. It also means that the eventual nominee could be very different from the leader in national polls because a candidate getting a few votes in the right (moderate) places can get as many if not more delegates than a candidate getting more votes in a conservative area. .... http://www.westernjournalism.com/this-bizarre-rule-in-the-gop-primaries-could-doom-some-major-frontrunners/

Open Primaries in Dem states under these rules allows the Democrats to select the GOP candidate no matter who we want.

The same thing is true for the Democrats. The Democratic primaries give equal weight to the southern states, even though there is no chance their candidate could win the election there.

“Thanks to this disparity, if a hard-right candidate like Cruz dominates deeply red Southern districts in the SEC primary, a more electable candidate like Rubio could quickly erase that deficit by quietly piling up smaller raw-vote wins in more liberal urban and coastal districts,” wrote FiveThirtyEight.

I like how they declare that the guy who gets fewer votes is the more electable.

Hardly, its a population density issue. They have the advantage. Plus Conservatives are not inherently dishonest like liberals are.

If the GOP apparatchiks take away the will of the people, they will destroy their own party.

Perhaps that is their goal.

Point being the process is rigged to insure that the candidate considered most palatable by the political class is selected.

Trump will win New York, but Pataki is in there to cut Trump’s numbers.

If this goes to the convention, and there’s a good possibility it will, I believe they’ve seen how poor a candidate that Bush is. They will not choose him.

If they choose to unify the party they’ll pick some kind of Cruz or Rubio combination.

Yeah, that's great!

Because we NEED Mr. 4% to be nominated, right?

If they give it to Rubio I will not vote. Same for Bush, Christie and the others like them.

Open primaries should be banned. The idea that a political party would let anyone other then enrolled member of that party pick a candidate is insane.

I doubt that. Even establishment Republicans in New York consider Pataki a has been.
