The military “owns” most all the ocean real estate off the coast in Warning Areas. Airliners are only allowed in narrow corriders under normal conditions. This sounds like they are using the LAX facilities, something entirely different.

My comment was an allusion to the Los Angeles mystery contrail of (almost exactly) five years ago.

Yes, I was there 1 day after the “passenger plane contrail” - the sea was filled with Navy ships doing ASW maneuvers for a freaking week. Passenger plane from China at sunset my ass

Going out on a limb here...but if they are changing approach directions it has nothing to do with airspace. Rather it has to do with ground space.

Ah yes, still say that was hilarious BS, just a contrail of an airliner that got lit up just right.

You should see the panic and confusion in Hawaii when a missile is launched from Kauai at dusk and leaves a contrail. Liberals here go berserk about the mystery of it all.

SOCAL Op area. It’s been a long time since I flew it but the USN owns most of the airspace from San Diego to south of San Francisco and can restrict its use when they need to... I’m guessing one of the Pac Fleet carriers and its battle group are doing workups prior to deployment.

Did the Navy take this sort of action before other deployments in the past?

Weird! When we had Jade Helm here a few months ago, we never heard or saw a thing. I was really surprised.

I wonder if this is a plan to check all the cargo of international planes that have a direct flight into LAX ..??

I heard that this might be in the works, because nobody was talking about any planes out there that might already have a plan to do the same to a USA plane that was done to Russia.

There’s been a lot of talk re double-checking any intl flights that may have been included in the targeting of aircraft.

It’s strange, but I have always thought that checking the employees who load cargo, deliver meals, or deliver other items to any aircraft, were major places to look for somebody.

Guess I didn’t hear about that .. but San Diego has contrails over this city all the time.

In fact, they come almost directly over my house. However, I do know they are usually from a military base in the desert north of me - and appear to be headed to the desert in AZ. Usually testing of something.

As long as they don’t hit my house, I don’t care.

I hear jet noise (high altitude) very often, much higher than COMMAIR and no contrails.....

only occasionally. there’s a lot of airspace so it depends on what part of the op area is in use.
