The actual number of SNL viewers will be available later in the week. But for point of comparison, the season premiere delivered 6.3 million viewers, so last night could be close to 10 million.
Trump, who continues to lead the GOP primary polls, previously fueled an August debate on Fox News Channel to a record 24 million viewers, and September debate on CNN drew an also impressive 23 million viewers.

Outside of Trump it was typical SNL, it sucked. The new viewers won’t be back.
I actively avoid even skimming through that channel.
I will never watch it again!
But the actual show last night sucked.
yes! it was awful.
I can’t stand the commercials.
After watching for the first time in decades, I realize why thinking people would stop watching SNL after they reach puberty. The jokes are adolescent-level and unfunny and the entertainment is bizarre low-quality crap. Trump looked silly and unpresidential participating in that trash.
yes! but how many of these viewers vote?
Trump was humorous but SNL really really sucks. This was the first episode I’ve watched since Dan Akroyd and John Belushi’s last show way back when.
I didn’t watch. I’m an old bag. I need my beauty sleep. LOL
you did not miss much
“...SNL really really sucks. This was the first episode Iâve watched since Dan Akroyd and John Belushiâs last show way back when.”
Ditto. I didn’t watch last nite, but made it thru only 22mins on the YT video this morning, after 2 mugs of coffee. The old cast/writers were leagues ahead of this stuff.
Ditto.
ditto
Whomever missed the show didn’t miss much.
I’m surprised the show is still on the air for as lame as it is.
Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!
I haven't watched the show in 20 years, and only watched it to see Trump. Loved the Oval Office skit, especially when the Mexican President paid for the wall. Otherwise, the show sucks, especially that mumbling, off-key beotch with the tie-dyed raccoon on her head.
When SNL was “popular”, I was too busy LIVING Saturday nights, to be bothered watching.
Now, I just have no interest.
Trump - Making SNL Great Again!
(If only for 1 segment on one show.)
When Jimmy Fallon was on with Michael Buble, now THAT was a great show.
What was it with Sia and her wigs?
SNL was fun the first several years. Good writing and a funny ensemble cast. But other than the Eddie Murphy years, subsequent cast members and writers were awful. Comedy too has changed. At one time, the jokes were funny. Today, profanity and personal attacks are considered humorous. Not to me.
I guess that’s also why I don’t watch the present sitcoms on TV or go to a comedy club anymore.
