Cruz takes the gloves off, attacking Rubio on immigration

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), who has spent the past few weeks taking oblique swipes at Senate colleague and presidential campaign rival Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), took a direct swing at him Thursday in a clash that signaled a newly bitter fight between the two rising candidates — and illustrated the GOP field’s contentious fault lines on immigration policy.

Cruz blasted Rubio for his support of a failed immigration reform bill that would have granted a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, telling conservative radio host Laura Ingraham that Rubio had opposed adding provisions to the bill that would have strengthened border security

Delusional darling:

Nothing in your quote contradicts Cruz's stance in the quote I provided.

WASHINGTON — Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) announced on Monday another amendment to throw a wrench into the Senate’s comprehensive immigration reform bill: tying it to voter ID.

The amendment, which he first announced on Twitter, is unlikely to make it into the eventual bill. Cruz voted three times — once in the Judiciary Committee and twice on the Senate floor — against moving the “gang of eight” bill forward even for debate, and is considered unwinnable as a “yes” vote for the legislation as a whole.

Still, he has attempted to add his own touches to the bill, such as stripping it of its path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. The most recent amendment would touch on the equally contentious issue of whether would-be voters should be required to show identification to prove their citizenship before registering to vote.

Again, still strawmen. It doesn't change that Cruz did not oppose the underlying mass legalization that was offered by the bill. He simply wanted to bar them from citizenship and to "enforce the border first" before granting legal status. Nothing you are showing me here contradicts that.

If the Democrats had been smart, they would have supported Cruz's amendment and simply waited a few more years to get the citizenship they wanted.

How can voting against it, being the most vocal advocate to killing it, and offering not 1, not 2, but THREE poison pill amendments be viewed as “not opposing the underlying mass legalization”?

How can voting against it

Because he would have voted for it had it had the amendments he wanted. If those amendments succeeded, there would be no deportation of the 11-40 million illegals in this country. They would be "out of the shadows," as Cruz himself stated.

but THREE poison pill amendments

But notice there was no amendment to remove the underlying granting of legal status.

This is what he still supports. He said so himself. To this day, he still redefines the word "amnesty" in such a way that supporting HIS version of the bill would not be "amnesty." To this day Cruz STILL avoids or strutters and hesitates his way when people ask him if he supports deportation.

When Cruz stated he agrees with Trump on immigration, he lied.

Liked your posting! Bret Baer was very snarky (ala Wallace and Megyn) in his interview with Trump. ...Apparently some liberals can’t put their ‘feelings’ aside and do an honest interview.

Cruz is vulnerable. Rubio already pointing out Cruz supported the amended version of the Gang of Eight bill which, in Cruz's own words, would have happily brought illegals "out of the shadows" granting them RPI and LPR status. Cruz has been riding on Trump's coattails, creating the illusion that he mirrors Trump on immigration. He does not.

Several things Cruz has said and done have been misinterpreted by those who don't have his fine mind or ethics - your example is one of them.

Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
I prefer Cruz and my money goes to his campaign, hence the Cruz link. If you like someone else, donate to him/her (find your own link to do it) and if you use FR and don't donate, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches or those who have Obama Phones because, functionally, you are no different than any other FReeloader

PS - If you are one of those who cannot afford even a small donation to FR or a candidate, God Bless and happy FReeping!.....

GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!

Read all my posts in this thread, including the links, and you will see that there was no misinterpretation.

I'm probably way smarter and ethical than Cruz. Most of us are. We don't support his amnesty, nor his deceptive means of covering it up. Same thing on Fast Track, where the bugger even voted against an amendment that would have required Congress to approve or reject China's application to TPP if they wanted to join it. Now China can join whenever it wants, exactly as the big money donors wanted.

I guess that makes it official - you are delusional about your own abilities and can't recognize real smarts. I looked through some of your other posts and you also have a propensity for twisting things to make them "fit your meme". When one accurately described Cruz's ruse to show the rest how rabid they were about the immigration deal, by offering several options which did everything except offer citizenship, you then call it lying to Congress.

Sorry Bud, but if you think you're way smarter than Cruz, you need to adjust your meds.

Even you screen name suggests a delusional superiority and you nice religious blurbs on your home page kind of tie the whole ball of you into a bit of zealotry.

Believing that you can legalize 40 million illegals and bar them from citizenship would make you real stupid. The fact that he's obfuscating his positions makes him a liar.

There you have it - I guess you would have sneered at those who made fake airfields in WWII to throw the enemy off too.

Let's cut to the chase - what paragon of purity do you actually support or are none worthy enough that we need to bother paying attention to the campaigns? How about we just hold a coronation for Queen Hillary now and save ourselves all the trouble sifting through our field of "unworthy to serve" candidates?

Is there anyone or anything you deem worthy enough to support monetarily or are you just a "Smarter than Cruz, Master Fault Finder"?

LOL, comparing Ted Cruz lying to us about his record with fail airfields in WW2. That's funny. In a little while you're going to compare him to Jesus Christ.

Hey, a lie is a lie.

Besides, I notice how you opted to sidestep the real question about who you might actually deem worthy of your support, including financial in order to take positive action to get the candidate of your choice in position to be viable.

Funny how so many of the fault-finders like to carp but don't seem to actually espouse anyone - just their own "ideals".

Kind of pathetic how so many who tell us who not to support don't seem to have a real idea of how to take positive steps - or maybe they just prefer to let others make the actual decisions so they can claim clean hands and maintain bitching rights.
