Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan announced Monday that medical scans show no sign of the cancer he was diagnosed with five months ago, indicating that 18 weeks of intensive chemotherapy have put the disease into remission.
Doctors will continue to monitor Hogan (R) regularly for signs of a recurrence. But at this point, the test results are the best possible news for the first-term governor, whose battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma made him a vocal and visible advocate for cancer patients and resulted in him juggling state responsibilities with treatments that left him weaker and immuno-compromised.
"Incredibly, as of today, I am 100 percent cancer-free," Hogan said at an emotional news conference in the governor's reception room of the Maryland statehouse in Annapolis, which was packed with family members, friends, aides and well-wishers.
The governor disclosed his diagnosis at an emotional news conference in June, shortly after discovering a lump on his neck during a trade mission to Asia. He said doctors found that parts of his body were riddled with tumors, some the size of oranges and golf balls.
The news prompted an outpouring of support from people around the world, including a handwritten note from President Obama, well-wishes from politicians and residents throughout the state, and a corn maze that a Frederick County farmer carved out with Hogan's image and the phrase "Maryland is HoganStrong" -- a reference to a non-profit group established in the governor's name to raise funds for cancer research and support organizations.

Praise the Lord! I hope he continues in good health.
Wow. Good news for Gov. Hogan. Prayers that he continues to stay cancer-free.

Horrible horrible disease straight from the devil himself.
Good for him.
How I longed to hear those words.
But God had other plans....
BUMP
hate to say it but in remission and cancer free are not the same thing, I hope he remains in good health.
“Hate to say it but in remission and cancer free are not the same thing, I hope he remains in good health.”
Yep, I hear you - considering the sizes of some of the tumors they discovered in him.
I hope he continues on in good health for many years to come.
Well,it seems to me that there are few pluses to living in a cesspool like Maryland but they *do* have just about the finest hospital on earth....Hopkins in Baltimore.
Praise God!
He has been a God send to Maryland.
So is he pro-life now? Or did he learn absolutely nothing
Hard to here that God wants you home when this is the only one you know to your senses. I will pray you get a positive decision from Him on mercy.
This is great news!
Great!
God still does heal people I believe.
Now Governor Hogan must deal with another form of cancers...Democrat politicians that dominate his state.
Indeed so! I’m pleased to hear this!
RE: So is he pro-life now? Or did he learn absolutely nothing
The Democrats’ attack ads are based on Hogan comments from 1980 and 1981 in which he supported a ban on abortions except to save the life of the mother, as well as a “human life amendment” that would have barred abortions while possibly outlawing some forms of birth control. By 1992, Hogan had modified those positions and said abortion should remain legal.
Today Hogan says that he is still personally opposed to abortion, but he pledges he will not try to change Maryland’s laws protecting women’s rights to the procedure nor to limit access to contraception.
