If its your home or your neighbors home I believe its legal.

Remember the shotgun guy a couple years ago. He shot two guys coming out of his neighbors house. Had the 911 audio of him telling them they were dead before he shot.

Yeah, ya can kill them if they have stolen property. Shooting out the tires, not so much.

It sounds like she shot at the tire and not at the shoplifters. So apparently they got her on brandishing and firing a firearm, regardless of the fact that she was just using it to disable the perp’s vehicle.

She’s probably lucky she didn’t get fired by Home Depot, if they didn’t.

Gun Grabbing Gone Right.

I have mixed emotions about this case and deep in my psyche I applaud her and her actions............

Unfortunately laws protecting the criminal element now incriminate the only on scene individuals for their actions.

As far as I'm concerned, she should have received a slap on the wrist and told to take another firearms class that emphasized one should leave their firearms home and let law enforcement RESPOND to whatever crime may be committed..........

Didn't know that shooting someone who's running away is legal in Texas.

Um, it's not in most circumstances....

Would you be OK if she had killed the shoplifters?

If my aunt had balls she would have been my uncle......

Echoing your question, would you be ok if such shop lifters were responsible for a string of murders during their attacks on innocent shoppers?

Never fire at someone who is fleeing.

That's the major flaw of the law.............

The crazy laws PROTECT shoplifters.Shoplifters are just a PC term for THIEVES.Most stores prohibit employees from stopping thieves for fear of lawsuits.I think this is wrong. It encourages theft.

Once they turn and run, the "threat" is over and you cannot shoot.

Unless you're a cop, and then you can execute them for fleeing.

Not the same thing.

Would I kill someone for stealing from a neighbor? No.

If they have your property in their hands and are fleeing, you are allowed to use force and deadly force to stop them in Texas. Yes, that includes in the back.

Again, I want more information. Was she somehow threatened by the shoplifters?

I find it hard to believe a disinterested bystander would become so active in stopping thieves without some skin in the game. But that’s just me. And I DO NOT trust most media.

Yep. She broke most of the rules that were, or should have been, driven into her head during her conceal carry class. No immediate threat, fleeing targets, and God knows what was out in the Home Depot parking lot beyond the moving targets she was theoretically aiming at. She’s lucky she didn’t kill somebody.

“”And I learned my lesson that I will never help anybody again.””

It’s like she still doesn’t get it!

The perps ripped off a Home Depot, not the shooter’s home.

Unfortunately it sounds like she didn’t learn anything.

Maybe shouldn't have shot at them, right. Your response is no appropriate either. She said she was trying to help. That doesn't absolve her, but she has every right not to ever help anyone after that. Would you?
