In his speech accepting the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night, Alabama running back Derrick Henry said that he gets on his knees every night and prays and advised kids to keep God first, always pray, and know that God will hear their cry.

My wife and I watched the three finalists interviewed after the Navy/Army game.
The three said they pray before each game.
My wife said that they would have to be careful praying during a game to avoid being fined.

Your post reminded me of “Rocket” Ismael who was up for the Heisman when I was in college. I remember Ty Detmer winning, and I thought Ismael should have won. My racist relatives were so happy Ty Detmer won. They only cared about race.
Anywho, I just read Ismael’s Wikipedia page. His nickname and his brothers’ nicknames were Rocket, Missile, and Bomb! Imagine the same today.
I saw this also. Liberal heads had to have been exploding all over the country. I was impressed. I think the communist DemocRATS are losing their grip on this generation. I sure hope so anyway.
He is from the next town over from me. We have been watching him from his days at Yulee High. He was seen as the real deal then and I am not surprised he won the award. There has never been any scandal around him and I am happy with the choice.
The question is does that award transfer to success in the pros? He has carried the ball and taken hits so often all through high school and so far in college to give pause to what may be “heavy legs” now. Inside the tackles he is suburb. Does he have the ability to quickly pop to the outside and turn up field? The answer will come in the play offs. In prime form, once he gets his shoulders squared up, I’d not want to be the LB and especially the corner who has to take him on. Lastly, in the pros he will have to be a good blocker. It will be interesting to see where he goes in a draft. I thought this interesting, when he chose Alabama, they were targeting him for a LB role!

Henry is certainly not an undeserving winner, just that McCafrey was better, hands down better. Critical Race Theory strikes again, thank you ESPN.

A couple at our church has one child at Stanford and another one headed there in a year. Even before this tv event, they were happy and glad about the Christians on the Stanford football team including their Heisman candidate being open about their faith.
All three candidates are open Christians.
Bless them and hopefully they will bring more Christians into focus and into college athletic programs.
