Donald Trump questions Ted Cruz’s ‘judgment’ and ‘temperament’
Washington Times ^ | Sunday, December 13, 2015 | S.A. Miller

Posted on 12/13/2015 9:07:13 AM PST by Isara

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Sunday attacked rival Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, saying that he has acted like a “maniac” in the Senate and doesn’t have the “temperament” to be president.

“Look at the way he’s dealt with the Senate. He goes in there, frankly, like a little bit of a maniac. You’re never going to get things done that way,” Mr. Trump said on “Fox News Sunday.”

“I don’t think he has the right judgment,” the billionaire developer said. “You can’t walk into the Senate and scream and call people liars, and not be able to cajole and get along with people. He’ll never get anything done, and that’s the problem with Ted Cruz.”

Mr. Trump was referring to Mr. Cruz calling Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Kentucky Republican, a liar on the Senate floor after he broke a promise not to allow a vote to restore the Import-Export Bank.

The public challenge to Mr. McConnell cemented Mr. Cruz’s standing as a hero of the party’s conservatives, who view the Import-Export Bank as corporate welfare and detest the majority leader as a big-government Republican.

Mr. Trump previously had spared Mr. Cruz from his blistering attacks, prompting speculation that the two might be destined to be running mates. But the former reality TV star opened fire in response to a report that Mr. Cruz questioned Mr. Trump’s judgment at a private fundraising event last week.

Mr. Cruz denied the report.

“He said it behind my back,” said Mr. Trump.

Recent polls also have shown Mr. Cruz surging past Mr. Trump into the lead in the early caucus state of Iowa.

Mr. Trump frequently has intensified his attacks on rivals as they have threatened him in the polls,....

Well Trump has a bit of a point. You can be right and still not get your agenda passed.

Trump has now painted Cruz as the Wild Man of the Senate that nobody likes.

He'll be wearing that characterization in the summer of 2016, wondering what happened to his ambitions.

“Scream?” Trump said he screamed? I have never seen Ted “scream.” But calling people liars, yes, and I’m perfectly happy with that, especially when they are.

Back away from this one, Trump.

This is not a good idea because CRuz is the only one who can take up the antiEstablishment mantel should Trump fail for some reason.

No way. Trump is dead wrong. He is spiteful and vindictive and does not belong in the presidency.

I have liked Trump for being an outsider, for not allowing himself to be pinned down by party. But I am wondering if the “loose cannon” label is starting to get to him, especially with this latest brouhaha over his Muslim statements (which so many of cheered, finally someone spoke the truth, and that was good), because he look like he’s trying to pass the “maniac” label with which the media tries to tag him, to Cruz, like a hot potato. I also get that impression from the way he has taken public issue with Scalia, over remarks which just a little research by his team would have shown were based on evidence gathered by none other than Thomas Sowell. Is Trump getting a little antsy, especially since the black pastors’ group supposedly reneged on their decision to endorse him, according to Trump?

I like Trump just fine, up to now, but he needs to lay off Cruz, at least on this line of attack, when Cruz has put his azz on the line for conservative principles more than once, sometimes all by himself, and stood against what was nominally the party of conservatives, when they went openly RINO, or I should say more accurately openly anti-conservative, as in the recent mid-term elections.

I hope & pray this is nothing but political kabuki to deflate speculation about a secret Trump-Cruz alliance.

Trump already knows that Ted Cruz does not hold grudges.

Wild Man of the Senate? When has Cruz even raised his voice in public?

Trump has stood up to Congress far more than Cruz. Ted has his own amnesty plan (donor $). Doesn’t want to send anyone home, path to citizenship which will hurt American jobs more when illegals become legal hires. And Cruz wants to bring in exponentially more green cards, H1b visas, and wants no per-country limit on applicants from countries like Mexico, China and India

And I’ve yet hear him go into detail on sealing the border.

Trump came out day #1, going to seal the border and send them back. He’s never backed down.

Trump is a loose cannon. It may be cute while running for office, but it will not work as commander-in-chief.

What Trump does not get is that much of his support came from people who also like Cruz. No more.

"That’s it. I’ll never defend Trump again."

If not being facetious, good for you. The GOP nominee of Trump will hand the presidency to Hillary, just like Perot did for Billy-boy.

Right. And standing up against the rest of the Senate and being the most hated man in Congress are actually great selling points for Ted Cruz.

Still there are people who will hear Trumps criticism and go “oh well I guess Ted Cruz isn’t the right guy after all”.

This needs to stop.

They need to lay off of each other. They are an incredible good cop, bad cop combo, and the only ones who will benefit if their rivalry becomes enmity are the establishment drones - Rove, Priebus, Bush, Clinton and similar jackals.

I’m serious. I defended Trump because I thought he was being treated unfairly by the GOP. He was. But i don’t care anymore. I was never going to vote Trump anyway.

Theater or not, I will never let this one slide. Trump does not care about the issues. Trump cares about Trump. He thinks only billionaires should serve as President, because everyone else must take donations. The Founding Fathers would cringe.

Trump is a big spoiled brat. He can’t take it when anyone else beats him the polls. He would make a HORRIBLE President.
