The Pentagon acknowledged Wednesday that Defense Secretary Ash Carter used a personal email account to do some of his government business during his first months on the job.
Carter's press secretary, Peter Cook, declined to say whether it was a violation of Pentagon email policies.
He said work-related messages Carter received on his personal account were "copied or forwarded to his official account so [they] can be preserved as a federal record as appropriate."

The Senate Armed Services Committee will review Defense Secretary Ash Carter’s use of a personal email account to conduct some official business, with Chairman John McCain expressing dismay at Carter’s choice.
“With all the public attention surrounding the improper use of personal email by other Administration officials, it is hard to believe that Secretary Carter would exercise the same error in judgment,” McCain said in a statement. “The Senate Armed Services Committee has requested copies of the emails and will be conducting a review to ensure that sensitive information was not compromised.

There’s also the matter of likely classified material moving through a server that is almost certainly compromised and being seen by every competent intelligence agency in the world.

I just took a job with a major large company...
I used my personnel email account for all of one day until I got a company email account...
fire him...
Same thing with Hillary’s outside email account. It should have set off alarm bells on the internal email server every time an email was sent.
Just the ones he wanted as part of the federal record.
