3 Sunni-Led States Join Saudi Arabia’s Diplomatic Feud Against Iran
NY Times ^ | JAN. 4, 2016 | THOMAS ERDBRINK and SOMINI SENGUPTA

Three Sunni-led countries joined Saudi Arabia on Monday in severing or downgrading diplomatic ties with Iran, worsening a geopolitical conflict with sectarian dimensions in one of the world’s most volatile regions.

The diplomatic protests from the three countries — Bahrain, Sudan and the United Arab Emirates — came as Iran accused Saudi Arabia of using an attack on the Saudi Embassy in Tehran two days earlier as a pretext for diverting attention from its problems.

Iranian protesters ransacked and set fire to the embassy on Saturday, along with the Saudi Consulate in Iran’s second-largest city, Mashhad, after the Saudis executed a Shiite cleric who had criticized the Sunni kingdom’s treatment of its Shiite minority. The Shiite cleric, Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, was among a group of 47 people who were executed.

The cutting of ties between Iran and Saudi Arabia comes just weeks after a groundbreaking series of talks that brought rival powers to the table to discuss a road map for peace in Syria. In New York in December, the Saudi and Iranian foreign ministers sat directly across from each other for several hours at a high-level meeting led by the United States and Russia.

Direct talks among the warring parties in Syria, overseen by a United Nations mediator, Staffan de Mistura, are scheduled to start on Jan. 25 in Geneva. There is still no clarity on who would represent either the Syrian government or the various opposition groups fighting it.

Mr. de Mistura said on Monday that he was en route to the Saudi capital, Riyadh, and that he then planned to visit Tehran in an attempt to defuse the tensions, which could set back the ambitious diplomatic effort to reach a negotiated resolution to the five-year-old civil war in Syria.

“Iranian protesters ransacked and set fire to the embassy on Saturday”

Iranians are apparently too savage to understand the concepts of embassies.

The Sunni vs. Shiite muzzzlum hate is almost stronger than their collective hate of Israel. They have killed more of each other, that is muzzzlums, than they have killed others over the centuries. Kinda reminds you of the USA where blacks have killed more blacks in inter-cities than any whites have done. But, as the MSM would have you believe, millions and millions of blacks have been killed by whites in Amerika. Wrong! But, then, when did the truth get through to the MSM? Like NEVER!!! The muzzzie conflict is going only get worse and worse. The killing ain’t done by a very long shot over there.

It's like the Judean Peoples' Front vs the Peoples' Front of Judea in "Life of Brian".

REG: Listen. If you really wanted to join the P.F.J., you'd have to really hate the Romans.
BRIAN: I do!
REG: Oh, yeah? How much?
BRIAN: A lot!
REG: Right. You're in. Listen. The only people we hate more than the Romans are the ....ng Judean People's Front.

***Iranians are apparently too savage to understand the concepts of embassies.***

Their parents and grandparents got their Iranian training during the misadministration of Jimmy Carter.

Bahrain is an interesting case. It is a Shiite majority country with a Sunni Saudi-backed ruling family. There was mass demonstrations by the Shiites during the so-called Arab Spring. The Saudis responded by sending in tanks and troops across the causeway connecting the two to suppress the uprising.

I briefly listened to Bill Bennet`s show this morning, the neocon puke actually agreed with some other @sshat who said the Saudis are our allies! Well if you take into account the OBozo regime is supporting ISIS ‘unicorns’ in Syria, that`s actually correct.
