Show me the definition of natural born citizen in the Constitution. There is no exclusion in the Citizenship Clause.

No need. A mouth like yours knows no limits.

Just like Trump’s.

Rep. John A. Bingham, who later became the chief architect of the 14th Amendment’s first section.

In the United States House on March 9, 1866
commenting upon Section 1992 of the Civil Rights Act, said that the Act was

simply declaratory of what is written in the Constitution,
that every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen.

Rep. Bingham said parents. He did not say one parent, or a mother or father.

Yep, Cruz was born in Canada with a father who was a citizen of Cuba. What could be more natural born than that?

This could be brilliant. By Trump talking around the issue and the media over reaction creating a test; this could work out well. I bet because the media, etc. appose Trump so much that they would come out in defense of Cruz. Thus clearing the way for Trump to put him on the ticket.

No, both parents have to be citizens and the child has to be born on American soil.

Trump found nothing on Obama in 2010.

He was still swooning over the one in 2010.

He must think people have short memory spans.

This is your opinion, and you can’t possibly know anyone’s motives other than your own. My argument is valid, I agree with it - and that’s all that matters. Like I said - you are just another jaded Cruzbot, and like your St. Teddy, have a know-tt-all attitude. Most of you don’t realize what a tgurn off this is to most Americans.

I sure want that to be true but according to what I read it needed to be presented to the Consular Department at the time to be vetted. His mom would have needed to show her birth certificate and other relevant paperwork. Usually the State Department wants all the i’s dotted.

Its messy and O certainly just blustered and lied his way through the issue. Having questioned Obama it is hypocritical to give Cruz a pass without the facts/documentation.

No, place of birth is not the issue. Status at birth is the issue.

Cruz was born a US citizen; that is what counts.

“Citizenship” is not the question. Congress does not have the power to define natural born citizen for purposes of the Constitutional requirement for the Presidency, nor have they ever attempted to do so.

Did his wife give up her citizenship?

Nope.

And she didn’t lose it just because her husband changed his, it doesn’t work that way.

And the baby is the citizenship of the mom.

Article II, Section I, Clause 5 of the constitution deals with presidential eligibility. Look it up. The arguments put forth by the Cruz supporters have no merit. Cruz is simply not qualified, neither is Rubio, nor is Obama. That does not mean, however, that they are not US citizens.

In answer to your question a baby born outside of this country to American citizens is an American citizen; however, the parents need register the birth with the local American consulate/embassy, or there might be potential problems for the child later.

Cruz is your candidate, that’s what counts.

I can about guarantee if Trump had been born in Canada with only one US parent, you all would suddenly see the true meaning of the Constitution.

Still trolling, huh!

Cruz’ mother was born a US citizen, thus any child born to her as an adult is also a us citizen, regardless of where she is in the world at the time of birth.

You wrote: Learn how to spell “ignorant” for starters. I hope they do litigate this, because Cruz is eligible according to all laws in existence at the time of his birth.

Obviously, you are ignorant of Article II, Section I, Clause 5 of the United States constitution?

So just what law(s) circa 1970 stated that a person born in Canada whose father was a citizen of Cuba is eligible to be president?

Since you think us so ignorant, oh brilliant one, please enlighten us!

A baby born outside of the country to an American “citizen” is an American citizen.

“Citizen” does not need to be plural in order for the baby to also be an American citizen.

The American citizenship is transferred at birth by virtue of a single American parent, and yes, they need to register the baby prior to it turning 18.

Obama and Cruz are both citizens, even if Obama was born in Kenya, his mother still transferred her citizenship to him at birth. It’s really that simple. So unless that vile woman is actually not his mom, Obama is a citizen.

You are either born an American citizen, or you are naturalized. Those are the only two possibilities.

I don’t know about Rubio, and I don’t want to know, because Rubio is a non-factor.

You are assuming the courts would be just in their ruling; there is no reason at all to think that would be the case.
