What's the issue? The same men who wrote the Constitution also wrote this 1n a 1790 law:

The Act also establishes the United States citizenship of certain children of citizens, born abroad, without the need for naturalization: "the children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond Sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born Citizens".

Since the Constitution gave Congress the authority to make that ruling, where is the issue?

I think the issue is whether or not (both of) Ted's parents were US Citizens at the time of his birth.

I don’t have an issue with Cruz’s eligibility, if that’s what you’re asking.

If you’re asking why I think this is unsettled law, then I’d refer you to the State Department’s Foreign Affairs policy manual (and the comments by many conservative pundits and scholars) that specifically state that SCOTUS has never ruled definitively on whether or not a statutory citizen-at-birth is a natural-born citizen and eligible to the presidency.

Consider these facts:

1957- Rafael Cruz enters the US as a CUBAN Citizen on a student visa.

1961-1962 Rafael Cruz finishes college ,applies for political asylum, and gets a GREEN CARD.

1964-1966 Rafael Cruz takes a few odd jobs, marries, and moves to Canada. He applies for and becomes a CANADIAN CITIZEN and stays for eight years.

1970 Ted Cruz is born in Canada, to two parents who had lived in Canada for at least four years at that time, and had applied for and received Canadian citizenship under Canadian 0mmigration and Naturalization Laws, as stated by Rafael Cruz. As a result, US statutes would have voided the prior green card status which requires among other things, permanent residency within the United States and obviously, not becoming a citizen of another country during the time frame of the green card.

1974 The Cruz family moves to the United States when Ted is approximately four years old. Rafael Cruz has publicly stated that he remained a citizen of Canada until he renounced his Canadian citizenship when he applied for and became a Naturalized citizen in 2005. As a result, his wife and son were also Canadian citizens, his son being born a citizen of Canada in 1970.

2005 Rafael Cruz applies for legal citizenship and renounces his Canadian citizenship. No record of Ted renouncing his Canadian citizenship or applying for citizenship exists as of 2005.

Based on the above, would you conclude that he is a NBC ?

If we lived in a sane world, there would be no issue.

But because the media is desperate to try to drive a wedge between Cruz's supporters and Trump's supporters, AND to ruin Cruz's political career, it is suddenly The Most Important Issue In The World.
