Code of Conduct for Members of the United States Armed Forces
I
I am an American, fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.
II
I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender the members of my command while they still have the means to resist.
III
If I am captured I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.
IV
If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information or take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me and will back them up in every way.
V
When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am required to give name, rank, service number and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies or harmful to their cause.
VI
I will never forget that I am an American, fighting for freedom, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.

Okay, they thought they would be killed.
They then apologized to their captors for the Iranians to video and use to mock the United States throughout the region.
All while Obama was giving a SOFU telling us we had the most powerful military in the world...
Is there a link to this “News” story?
We are not at war with Iran.
Do we have formal diplomatic relations with them?
We are not at war with Iran and I am certain the rules of engagement they were operating under would only allow them to return fire if they received fire.
We still don’t have half the story on this incident.
“They then apologized to their captors for the Iranians to video and use to mock the United States throughout the region.”
I assume they were ordered to do that by the Obama administration.
No, you don’t have to get killed to never surrender.
It depends on whether they were ordered what to say by their superiors or not. Otherwise, thee could be a violation the UCMJ.
Captured by some rag tags in Boston Wailers. Megan pressed Gen Keene tonight TWICE about this Captains statement and it being against the oath he took. Keene wouldn’t hunt, something is rotten in Obamamark.
Smiling and eating without even being roughed up was IMO beyond the pale. Especially with one of their team members (the woman) being relegated to the corner wearing a scarf and not being offered food. Disturbing.
It would have been better not to get caught.
With the type of C.I.C. that our military has, is it any wonder that the morale is so low that they ignore the Code of Military Conduct?
We are not at war with Iran.
As many have stated, we do not know what orders they were operating under.
I joined under Carter while the hostage crisis was going on.
Thought I would make a difference and when Reagan was elected we did.
President Obama has been mocking the United States and apologizing in the region for going on 7 years now.
They may have been ordered to surrender. This could have been staged for some reason. Maybe to show us rubes what good friends we are with Iran now that Obama gave them a “deal”.
The female being forced to wear a scarf and sit in a corner set my jaw, too. The gal wasn’t a tourist, she is a member of the United States Military. I’d have pulled the damn thing off and stomped on it and expected my shipmates to sit in that corner right along with me backing me up. And I’m not saying this just because she’s a female; a member of their unit was singled out for humiliation - male or female don’t matter. I’m interested in hearing what, if any, objections to this ‘special treatment’ were made by her shipmates -—to whom she’s supposed to be equal.
It is a tough call on this one for the sailors involved.
The Code of Conduct is for those who are captured as prisoners of war or as part of on-going hostilities (shooting war) between an organization or state and the US.
We are not at war with Iran, although we have extremely strained relations with them and the situation in the Gulf is always volatile.
Our Navy guys could well have had a legitimate mechanical failure or navigation error....In which case an apology and making nice at a flash point would be embarrassing, but not be out of line to keep things from escalating.
I believe the situation would have been quite different if the Iranians had attempted to capture these boats in international waters — they would have quickly found themselves outgunned by the US Navy.
As much as I despise our current Commander in Chief, I will keep faith that our Sailors did the right thing until I hear hard evidence to the contrary.
?????
I have no opinion on this incident, because all the facts are not in yet. We won’t know for a long time anything about what really happened.
Obama will Court-martial then behead them is a sign of friendship to Iran
