Donald Trump got personal on Friday in answering a father's question about stopping the rampant heroin epidemic.
"I lost my son two years ago to a heroin overdose," a man told Trump at a rally in Urbandale, Iowa, his first event after Thursday night's debate.
Trump asked whether the man was from Iowa; he responded that he was from Owego, New York, an upstate town in the center of the state that has been no stranger to the influx of heroin in recent years.
"Well, you know they have a tremendous problem in New Hampshire with the heroin. Unbelievable. It's always the first question I get, and they have a problem all over. And it comes through the border," the GOP presidential candidate said. He then repeated his most famous pledge: "We're going to build a wall, number one, we're going to build a wall, and it's going to be a real wall."
Heroin is "pouring across," Trump continued, vowing to "stop that drug traffic because heroin is really tough."
"Because they say once you get hooked, it's really tough. In all fairness to your son, it's a tough thing. Some very, very strong people have not been able to get off it," he riffed. "So we have to work with people to get off it, and the biggest thing we can do in honor of your son, actually, and the people that did have problems, big problems, we have to be able to stop it."
Trump then paused to comfort the man.

Trump has more empathy than people give him credit for. This is a good example of it.
Trump has a heart, and also has five kids so he can empathize with the fellow.

What’s with this heroin stuff? Sounds like another jihadi plot.
Heroin is the drug opiate addicts get addicted to eventually. Most of them start out being prescribed pain killers by doctors because America has a “pain problem.” That turns into a powerful addiction and for some heroin is the cheapest alternative to burning through prescription meds.
Heroin is a major cash crop for Jihadists, but there is not nearly as much of that here in the U.S. as the Mexican tar. The Mexican drug cartels have taken over the U.S. heroin trade so Trump is right with his comments that sealing the border will make heroin less plentiful in our nation.
Just my opinion, but if our nation wakes up to the heroin problem the solution must begin with our pain management protocols through the American Medical Association. Doctors have unwittingly contributed greatly to this problem.
He also stopped to comfort the man after the event.

Comes from the southern border up to VA and up to NY NY, then from NY NY it’s a short 3 hour trip to Binghamton, then 25 min to Owego, where that man was from. I used to live there. Used to be big IBM presence, then Lockheed. Small town with not much opportunity, not many activities, so drug use is massive in such a small community. Back when I lived there people mostly drank. The people that did hard drugs kept it hidden, so was I ever surprised to learn that some people I knew well were shooting up. I tried to help them, but never could. They used to call it the “Quickway”, the highway from NY NY to Binghamton - because it was the quickest route to bring the drugs up. WAY WAY worse now.
Our in IN come from Chicago. The same drug gang that controlled the community Onorganized has grown tentacles that cover several states with Chicago as hub. I do believe our recently captured drug lord from Mexico will be going on trial there soon

Maybe that would be a job for her — drug czar.
It’s raging through the white working class, coming from Sinoloa Mexico,and Obama has totally ignored it because he hates the white working class.
Heroin is evil stuff, you can’t shake that addiction.
