The battle between Senator Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Donald Trump has now divided insurgent Republicans into two camps: those who prize conservative values over all else, and those who prize slapping the establishment over all else. That, in essence, is the dividing line between the two candidates.

Or the purists versus the pragmatists.
Or the supposed conservatives who have waited for a constitutional candidate for decades going for cult of personality rather a constitutional conservative.
Trump is a liberal with some conservative tendencies. Cruz is a conservative. You decide.
People have made up their minds. Someone is going to win and some are going to lose.
Some have just had enough of it.
Meanwhile Bernie is soaring.
Wrecking the establishment is the more important goal IMHO.
Trump is a populist.
Do some research on pragmatism before you get too excited about it.
Except the pundits seem to overlook the fact of constitutional qualifications, as though they don't even exist, or are merely a question raised by kooks.
Don't get me wrong, same thing was done for admitted Dual-citizen at birth Obama, and look what THAT got us.
If a dual citizen can get away with it, might as well go for the full-on born abroad camp too.
Makes me want to puke.
He’s a liberal populist!
Trump is an example of a “perfect” DUmocrat. Recycled slogans and a vacant Conservative record.
If you are so opposed to dual citizens, why are you enamored of STrump, a dual national of both the US and UK.
And don’t go off on a bunch of irrelevant riffs if you don’t know the relevant law.
Say what you will about him. Had Trump not come on the scene, we would be presented with a fait accompli in the anointing of Jeb Bush as the nominee. There is no question about that in my mind.
We would also never have returned the word “illegal” to our national lexicon, nor would ANY candidate have EVER dared voice reservations about all the damned Muslims we do in this country. NONE of them.
Although I’m not voting for him since I will vote for Cruz, I do thank Trump for those two things.
Implicit in the headline is that the establishment is conservative.
Would be very difficult to “take on Putin” when your one of the primary choir boys singing his praises and making the case that the Russians are “just like us”...hes an Obama clone.

—— purists versus the pragmatists-—
I’ll buy that
also dreamers vs realists
Funny. In this case standing with the conservative IS fighting the establishment.
It is not an either-or choice.
Trump is a Democrat in Republican clothing. Cruz is a Constitutional conservative the likes of which we haven’t seen in thirty years.
So what’s this website’s reaction? You got it. Trash the conservative.
Freepers may just get the candidate their lack of common sense so richly deserves. They’ll then be unable to complain, but the “I told you so’s” will come at the expense of what’s left of our Republic.
We’ll take no pride in being proven right once more. But there’s still time to support conservatism through Ted Cruz.
The #1 job this election was to defeat the Establishment. Either Trump or Cruz do that. So, I’m happy we’ve succeeded.
Job #2 is to promote conservatism above the Establishment. Only Cruz does that, so I support him.
I’ll vote for Trump to ensure the Establishment loses. But I prefer Cruz.
