(Via CNN) Washington – Donald Trump has hit a new high in the race for the Republican nomination, according to a new CNN/ORC Poll, with more than 4-in-10 Republican voters nationwide now saying they back the billionaire.
And more than two-thirds of Republicans say he’s the candidate most likely to capture their party’s presidential nomination.
Trump has topped the 40% mark for the first time in CNN/ORC polling, standing at 41%. That more than doubles the support of his nearest competitor, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who notches 19% support in the poll. No other candidate hit double-digits. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio landed at 8%, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson at 6%, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 5%, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 4%, and the rest at 3% or less.
Despite the new high-mark for Trump, the GOP race remains fairly stable compared with where it was in the most recent CNN/ORC poll in late December.
In addition, NBC conducted a poll of Iowa Voters and found a similar outcome with Donald Trump at 39% support and Ted Cruz at 17%.

It's ignorance like this that will sink this nation. Who do you think Trump was before this election cycle? He was a billionaire behind the scenes! Every one of the heavy-hitters on both sides in Washington, DC (including Pelosi, Reid and Hillary) count Trump as a donor!!

Reuters out as well. Trump 40-15. Cruz recovered a little bit over the weekend. Couldn’t be that look Beck could it? He’s now back on the downswing. Don’t have ability to post it at the moment but it is out.
Just to set the record straight:
“Eight of the Republican presidential hopefuls, Trump, Cruz, Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, John Kasich, Carly Fiorina, Chris Christie, and Jim Gilmore said in financial disclosures that were largely filed between June and August last year that they had owned Goldman funds or Goldman stock, and in some cases both. The disclosures mostly cover the period from the beginning of 2014 to the middle of last year.â€
“Citibank, in particular, played a major role in one of the Trump’s organization’s more notorious bankruptcies, when the Trump Plaza Hotel in Atlantic City was underwater and Trump owed over $550 million on it to various creditors, with Citibank at the head. In order to restructure his debt, Trump gave Citibank and other creditors a 49% ownership interest in the hotel.
As for Goldman Sachs, Trump is himself a shareholder in Goldman Sachs, which means he has a direct financial interest in its success. One would think that would make Trump even less enthusiastic about protecting me from Goldman Sachs (whatever that means) than Cruz would.
There is essentially not a major Wall Street entity that Donald Trump or his companies have not taken out loans from or received financing from. In fact, that’s more or less his entire business model. This lengthy ABC piece details how each and every one of them has at one time been circling Trump or his companies as they have been left holding the bag for all or part of loans he took out from them.â€

So it is NOT just Ted Cruz who has a relationship with Goldman Sachs and other Wall Street banks, but also The Donald himself. And, for the record, I do NOT necessarily consider that a disqualifying factor.
