President Obama's last year in office is shaping up as the Year of the Veto.

After vetoing only seven bills over the first seven years of his presidency, Mr. Obama has vetoed two measures already in January.

What's more, the White House has issued veto threats against all five pieces of legislation to come out of the House since Jan. 1, from a measure to cut "burdensome" government regulations to a bill that would give Congress greater oversight of the Iranian nuclear deal. A House vote on the latter is scheduled for the week of Feb. 1.

The president, who has yet to hold a meeting with new Republican Speaker Paul D. Ryan, huddled Tuesday at the White House with Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California and Vice President Joseph R. Biden to discuss legislative priorities.

Ryan proceeds with agenda the people requested — pass the legislation, send it to the President, let him veto to show the people where he stands. Now, if they schedule votes to overiride, we’ll all know where individual members of Congress and the Senate stand before the 2016 election.

How many of these pieces of legislation in the “veto war” are to defund or eliminate things the HOR already financed?

The president, who has yet to hold a meeting with new Republican Speaker Paul D. Ryan,

That's because the leash Obama has on him works just fine. Tug on the leash when Ryan gets antsy. Ryan gave him every damned nickel Obama wanted in the budget

FALSE STATEMENT, there has not been a budget passed since the 2010 fiscal year.

Technically true regarding the formalized traditional process, but Ryan did work out a budget agreement for the government fiscal year 2016, and it is this of which I spoke.

And yet when they actually had a chance to end the programs in question by removing funding for Planned Parenthood and Obamacare from the budget, Ryan and the Republicans rolled over and gave in and passed a budget that funded it all completely. So if a Democrat wins in 2016 then why should we expect anything to change?

ryan’s a skippidydooda show voter now that it’s too late to confront homobama’s agenda. He’s like the coward that comes out from behind a tree after the battle is over and wipes himself with blood to show how brave he is.

This might have more significance if Ryan had not already handed Obama a budget with everything he wanted.

You are so right. All of this is just political theatre and pure BS since Lyin Ryan pushed the passage of the Crmnibus/Omnibus bill last year. How could anyone not know this?

How many times did the House pass something under Boehner that went NOWHERE in the gutless McConnell Senate? Same song different melody, same rhetoric. The President will never see this legislation.

“Show them how to act in public! Teach them the basic laws of humanity, how to count money, etc and so on.”

What a load of crap! Ryan is in cahoots with the half-breed. Thanks for nothing Wisconsin, this guy is just a RAT in RINO clothing. Do your country a favor and vote the bastard out of office. Ditto for Rancid Prius.

Meaningless pap to pretend he's conservative.

The guy showed his cards when he folded on the budget. He did nothing then funded everything.

I hope he's primaried, because he's demonstrated he's nothing more than the phony he replaced.

Pay for your own gym time from now on sir.
