Fox, Megyn Kelly and the Next GOP Debate (VANITY)
My Tiny Little Brain... ^ | January 27, 2016 | Manhunter

Posted on 01/27/2016 5:23:36 AM PST by ManHunter

Fox has defended Megyn Kelly's obvious ambush of Donald Trump in the first debate. Now, Fox gets into a pissing contest with Donald Trump, publishes a snide, snarky commentary about him and intends to bring in a Muslim apologist/defender to pick up on the ambush theme. Megyn "had a tough couple of days after the last debate" don't ya know. "Self-inflicted wounds are ALWAYS the most painful and embarrassing."

While I've been a Cruz supporter, Trump made the right decision to sit out the debate. As a former infantryman, I wouldn't knowingly walk into an ambush either.

Now the ball is in Fox's court and the intended ambush will go on. Kelly won't be able to set her ego aside and she'll open with an equally snarky commentary and question to someone - probably Ted Cruz - about Donald Trump. Even though he won't be there, the debate will be about Donald Trump and the candidates will have an opportunity to take their shots.

But then, with the encouragement of Fox News and Megyn Kelly, Nabela Noor, a Muslim apologist who equates Trump with Hitler, will have her opportunity to join the ambush and every candidate - including Ted Cruz - will have a decision to make. "Will I side with this Muslim apologist, or will I defend Donald Trump? Should I point out the historical relationship between the Muslim Brotherhood, Islam, the Nazi Party and the SS?" - assuming they even know. Most, if not all, will take the politically correct road and seal the fate of their candidacy; it is a GOP debate, after all. American voters of all stripes aren't likely to support a candidate who sounds like a slightly watered-down version of Mullah Obama.

The outcome? Trump wins - even though he won't be there, and Megyn Kelly has another 'tough couple of days'. Ted Cruz, in particular, is the one who has the most to lose and the primaries could be settled before the first vote is cast.

I think that is a fair and accurate summary.

The hit will probably go on as planned. The muslim woman will just target Cruz instead. She hates him as well.

And Cruz will be there. Because Cruz is not a coward. Trump, however, is a coward.

LOL!

So, Trump gave Cruz a gift.

Now, Cruz can shine.

The icebreaker has returned to port—let’s see how the rest of the convoy fares.

Kelly regards herself as a Hollywood (or at least Broadway) star, given the seemingly endless parade of magazine covers, glamourous photoshoots, etc.

She - and, crucially, her agent - have been trying to ‘build her brand’ from the off. She - and Fox - play up her cocktail glove/iron fist image. As her profile has risen, her politics have veered sharply towards the usual cold Manhattanite oatmeal.

It does not require a leap of imagination to see her jumping to one of the Big Three networks. It would gut Fox, who have put much time, money and effort into promoting her and the MSM would parade her as a convert who finally escaped the evil Murdochian Tea Party cult. Right now there is no iconic female host among the Big Three with Couric fading into obscurity and the morning show Aqua Net airheads barely able to string a sentence together.

Kelly wouldn’t mind the change as long as the fawning headlines, limos and puff pieces continued. Her commuter route to work would change only slightly. She could talk about things other than politics and the occasional weather disaster.

If the handful of power-brokers at Fox don't get a candidate they can prefer, they probably will just sit out this election and not vote. So, how many votes will that be? Twenty? Thirty?

Meaning: Fox's people are not and have not been as influential and persuasive as they have thought. (I don't pay any outlet to watch FNC or any "news" channel and haven't for several years.)

How about Ted saying...
"Donald has no real foundation for his beliefs so he is unable to publicly defend them. He picks some red meat for the gullible base voters and throws it to them in the hopes he can trick them into voting for him. That is why he is afraid to come here and answer your questions. He doesn't know how to defend his beliefs. I, on the other hand, am not. My beliefs are rooted in.....and that is why I think we should........." ?

The Repubs, for many election cycles now (think Candy Crowley, the first Fox debate with Kelly on an assassin’s mission & the other ‘gotcha’ debate that was so bad) have been going to debates with hostile, biased moderators like lambs to the slaughter. Why the RNC puts up with this, I don’t know. If you’ve watched Kelly/FOX for the last week or so (I don’t but some in my household do so I can’t totally avoid it) she has been giving the unhinged Glenn Beck lots of face time & also the NRO Trump knockers have been prominently featured. Reports have been that FOX was working on a Trump “kill shot”. The debates, at this point, are pretty worthless, IMO. I think it was a bold move for Trump to say he won’t subject himself to this sort of behavior by Kelly who is only out to make a big name for herself - any claims to “journalism” are ridiculous. The debate was not to showcase Repub candidates & let them debate their policy positions, it was going to be a cage match between Kelly & Trump. Trump is the only one to stand up to this & for himself & say “screw you”. It will either prove to be a masterful move in the eyes of the electorate or his Waterloo.

The Machismo shine on Trump's armor took a huge dulling after cowarding down to wittle bitty Megyn Kelly. I don't like Megyn Kelly, but this is one of the first Yuge strategic blunders from the Trump camgaign.

Hours until IA Caucus, and the Donald is going to take 100 or more un-rebutted hits form 7 other candidate? He will be common fodder to those 7. Well make it 6, since Jeb uses BB guns.

In any case, to those of his supporters claiming the alternative will be Twitter or televised Town Hall? That will be watched by just Trump Voters anyway. The "Undecideds" will be viewing the other 7 choices.

Even though he won't be there, the debate will be about Donald Trump

I don't like Donald Trump, never have, but I do appreciate two things about him. One, he has used his oversized foot to break down a locked door and barge past filters that the news establishment would have used to blanket and silence anyone else on the subject of illegal immigration. I've got no confidence at all that he meant any of it but his sheer chutzpah and opportunism put the subject and how most Americans feel about it on page one above the fold.

And two, one doesn't have to be a fan to appreciate pure skill on display. Trump makes it look like he's calculated nothing but the results (so far ... things may still change when actual votes begin coming in) indicate he's been playing chess on everybody's checkerboard.

Everyone should take note that Trump has known full well about this debate for months but can’t stop seething about Megyn Kelly’s question 5 MONTHS AGO!!!

If Trump can’t manipulate everyone with his demands, he personally attacks them repeatedly. Now he’s pouting about the retort Fox News gave to his demands to remove Kelly and complains bitterly about the money they’ll make (which makes him sound like Bernie Sanders crying about capitalism).

I think Trump’s stupid and immature stunt will backfire and Cruz will be the victor. Then the Donald will get his over-due comeuppance.
