The latest KTVT-CBS 11 / Dixie Strategies Poll of over 1,700 likely primary voters in Texas shows a change at the top in the race for the GOP nomination. While Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders numbers are rising, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is still dominating among Democrat likely voters.

PRIMARY

According to the poll taken January 25-26, Texas Senator Ted Cruz now leads real estate mogul Donald Trump among the GOP Candidates by 5 percentage points with Cruz at 30.27% and Trump 25.27% overall. That’s a big change from the previous poll taken in October of 2016 when Dr. Ben Carson had a slight lead over Trump.

Ted should be able to win his home state.

30% seems low. Didn’t he win 50%+ to win a U.S. Senate seat 2 years ago?

Hey, troll-boy.

A TEXAS poll? As in, "likely primary voters" in TEXAS? And it shows little Jebbie at 8%?

Not buying it.

Not very impressive, compared to other Texas polls showing Cruz with gargantuan leads. But the racial breakdown is interesting. Trump has been asserting that he will bring blacks to vote Republican. But Cruz is actually getting twice as many black votes (in what I’m sure is a very small sample size) as Trump is. He’s getting more than twice as many “other” (mostly Asian, mixed race and Native American), and marginally more Hispanics.

Another recent Texas poll had Cruz up 45-30.

Thank God! Maybe a little good news for Cruz supporters will allow them to tone back the nastiness a notch or two?

Texas is not winner take all, so a close race ends with them just splitting the delegates.

It will be a wash basically.

Florida is the key to the whole nomination. It’s winner take all, and the race will be over after it votes for Trump.

Trump is planning to go big with rallies in Texas when it’s time. All over the state.

Receipt acknowledged. Judgment deferred until I can verify.

For the nonce, putting in a line or two of comment (this is a poll just in Texas) or such, rather than NO comments...when posing a poll so far outside the national norms, and right in the midst of all the Fox/CNN controversy, and right before IOWA...gave a misleading impression.

Well, it’s his home state so I would expect him to do well there. But even still, a 5-point lead is not exactly staggering.

I am starting to forsee Trump crushing Cruz, then imploding, and when the dust settles freepers will be stunned while bumbling about scratching their heads baffled how there suddenly is a nominee named Bush, then soon after a president Sanders

Well, TRUMP is at least dominating the “somewhat liberal” & “very liberal” categories.
