When I picture Hillary, Boxer, etc, I think These guys on onto something.
This is pretty standard Moslem teaching. Wife beating begins in Islam with Koran verse 4:34 and goes on through Hadith and various authoritative Moslem commentaries.
The idea is to beat her into submission ... but use only as much force as necessary ... see if she’s obeying properly...if not, increase the force..... (and there IS occasional mention at least of trying to avoid any permanent or visible damage)
Sura 4:34:
Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in their sleeping places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.
