I am a product of a mixed marriage, Asian/White. I am married to a Hispanic who is mutt to, 1/4 Asian 3/4 White. I guess that is why I don't give rat's arse about race. I am an individual and want to be treated as such. I refuse to fill out those "check you race" forms. Sort of funny but people have at times thought I was a Jew, or a Mexican.

BUMP!

My ancestry is also mixed (European and American Indian), and I could care less about the obsession with race.

-For all the talk about immigrants refusing to embrace American ways, a defining controversy of this GOP presidential race, the evidence has been scant-

Ah, told on himself in the very 1st sentence.

“Today’s immigrants are more educated and better English speakers than their predecessors, and they are far less likely to commit a crime compared to the native-born”

What a bunch of BS!
Just the fact that most of them are here equates to them being criminals.

Call me a Paleo-Con (or racist), but this country was FAR BETTER when we had a common ancestry, religion, and language.

I don’t even recognize this Babylon anymore.

I could seriously care less what “race” anyone is, what matters is how they conduct themselves and treat others.

Some characteristics are most relevant to an immigrant’s impact on the United States. The first is education. Regardless of legal status, a less-educated immigrant is likely to be a net economic drain. Second, sex and age: that is, young men are the most likely to be violent, to drive while impaired, to commit crimes of any kind.

I’m in a mixed marriage. I’m white and my wife is Brazilian, third generation American born and raised in Alabama. Her family came here legally, and they all can’t stand the line jumping illegals.

This article is kind of BS, from what I’ve read. It seems to suggest that anyone who is against illegal immigration thinks no immigrants assimilate. In my experience, the legal immigrants do. It’s the people who don’t speak English or pay taxes or any of that crap that congregate in “Little Mexicos” in every city that don’t, and they give immigrants who are proud to become Americans a bad name.

You are right on all counts. If the immigrant comes here legally and adopts our culture, not trying to make it their culture, I’ve problem with them. What we have now.... a mess.

Most people are mixed nationality. Those who immigrate here legally come to assimilate. They keep some of their traditions, especially great foods, but work hard to become part of American life. They contribute strongly to this country.

But it is BS to say all do. One has only to go to enclaves of illegal Hispanics who don’t even try to learn English or pay taxes. And the Muslim communities who demand sharia and try to force everyone in their town to have avail to pork. These used to be exceptions but the the groups grow daily. So BS.

I’m the same way, never answer questions about race or ethnic groups.

If there is a place designated “other” we check it. For once I agree with Bill Clinton. We are all mutts. I do genealogy and I’ve found three indigenous ancestors. My kids keep hoping I’ll find some African. Mostly though our ancestors came from Europe in the 17th century. Some of them were indentured servants and some were slave owners. I have one ancestor who fought for the Union in the Civil War. It’s all complicated but then we have idiots who say that the blacks built this country and the rest of us, including I would guess you and your family, are guilty of white privilege. Sigh.

Yeah, my kids are 1/2 white, 1/2 Japanese. My sisters’ are 1/2 white, 1/2 black.

The leftist infatuation with racism and their talking points aligned with it is going to soon be crushed.

It’s about damned time. Mixed marriages are proving just how STOOOOOPID our entire obsession with race is anyhow.

I have a friend who married a guy from the Caribbean. His background is very diverse......Black, Asian Indian, Chinese.....Their children are a mix of so many things it would be impossible to answer that stupid question on EEOC forms.

If doesn’t have anything to do with race. It’s about culture.

The American culture that used to allow women to use the restroom without a man in a dress watching her. (Yes, a little off topic; but, if my neighbors spoke English and were off the food stamps I bet they’d help me do something about it.)

There really is just one “race”: human.

I’m a big fan of “mixed marriages.” They illustrate the creative diversity and love of God.

Do I identify as White?

I don't know. I looked deep, deep within myself, and found that in my inward self I am --- deep pink!

So I identify as Pink.

At least on the cardio-pulmonary level.

I write that in on the forms, too.
