And when you think about it, it all makes sense. Those who immigrate legally probably have a high likelihood of assimilating and blending well into society. That is, they probably begin their perspective with a respect for the rule of law, self-reliance, hard work, etc.
On the other hand, those who come here illegally and under the cloak of night are probably much more likely not to respect societal values or the rule of law. Their frame of reference is that they can do what they want as long as they remain in the shadows. These people have little interest in contributing to society. They are more interested in selfish pursuits and grabbing what they can get. Of course, the Democrat Party appeals greatly to them to enhance their cover and pledge more free stuff from others to them.
They should have....
More than any other, we are a nation of Mutts. But I see it changing. Changing from a “Melting Pot” to a “Salad Bowl”.
In a much different way from the Jim Crow America of a century ago. I see some of the beautiful people in this nation identifying themselves as a minority race in order to be extra special or a victim or whatever, instead of being proud Americans.
I personally do not think this is a healthy trend.
It is the left who are utterly obsessed with race.
It is all they can talk about.
When my daughter was young, an argument broke out at her school when a mixed race girl (father is black, mother is white) mentioned she was black. A black girl who moved here from a large city retorted “If your mother isn’t black, you aren’t black”. It caused quite a stir.
I’m Hispanic (white-hispanic) and Miami is one of the worst places where communities fail to assimilate. The old Cubans who did assimilate are getting old. The new breed Dominicans, Cubans, Ricans, Haitians, Argentines could give a rip about becoming Americans.
It’s even worse in Texas/Arizona/California with the Mexican “immigrants”.
Don’t even get me started on the Muhammadans.
Yep. The extent of my wife’s “cultural isolation” is that sometimes she buys some groceries at the Brazilian store to make traditional Brazilian food.
And thank God for that... it’s delicious! :)
My point was that he found a way to attempt to discredit the GOP presidential race right off the bat. I thought the story was about race and assimilation.

Unfortunately, they also natter on endlessly about killing babies, sexual perversion, disarming honest citizens, and taking our money.

I look whiter than sour cream (thank you Weird Al), but having worked in a genetics lab in college, when I donated my tubes of blood for HLA typing, I found they loved my blood and wanted tubes from me “whenever.” They would give me $10 because my types were needed. And $10 bought you a nice lunch back then. So one day I looked up my types in the book (no internet back then lol) and found they were pretty interesting. One was only found in subsaharan black Africans.... With a footnote that it was found in a few Jewish populations.
And as white as Barack Obama is, he could well be more black than every race baiting Blacklivesmatter screamer. Obama probably has 50% genuine African blood. Not a lot of American blacks have that much.
See my above post (where I do find African blood in my lily white self) and do the 23 and me kind of tests! You can do you, or one of the kids, which will show your spouse’s influence too.

That little girl might want to take a trip to the White House. I don’t believe in 7 years our President has ever even DARED acknowledge his white side. It doesn’t “exist,” like his real birth certificate.
This is the part of this whole thing that is so wrong. Our President will not acknowledge the “horrible” race his wonderful blackness is mixed 50-50 with. THAT ALONE IS RACIST.
I would have loved to see, on camera, Obama answering questions from first graders, and one little white girl asks him, “Is there something wrong with white people? Because you only talk about your black side.”
He talked about his racist white relatives.

We need to stop conflating illegal immigrants with legal immigrants. Those are separate issues and should be discussed separately.
As for race, I don’t care. Government should be as indifferent to race as all sensible people are. It’s time to move on and to judge people by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
#AllLivesMatter. Racism is immoral, even when the racists pretend they are trying to make up for previous racism.
