This is from a month ago, but it concerns Nevada, which has its GOP caucus tomorrow.

This is not a good development. Trump needs to be educated on some of the finer points in the Constitution.

I suspect Trump thinks the only Federal lanfs are the National Parks. Unaware of the liberal land grab to prevent drilling?

If he is up on the issue, it bodes ill

Let us pray that Nevada recoils in utter disgust at Trump's desire to keep the massive federal land grab in Nevada (and elsewhere) in full effect.

Yeah, let the govt steal them with the stroke of a pen. That way the American people can be kept off of them for the rest of eternity at the point of a gun. ;(

I like this guy less and less every time he opens his mouth.

I can’t argue with his logic. State and local politicians are probably a little easier to bribe.

When Loop 610 was built around Houston Hofheinz was judge. A man owned land on the west side and he wanted his land to be on both sides of the freeway. Since he gave a lot of money to Hofheinz the route was moved and went through the middle of the donor’s land. That also left only enough room for one lane to connect 610 with US 59 in both directions. And it’s a nightmare.

and therein is the real problem with Donald.

He wants control over everything.

What party does the same?

If the States had this land back, imagine what they could do to support their own budgets by having the power to send out mineral leases, fees, grazing fees and other money generating financial instrument that only the FedGov can issue as long as they own this land.

And the huge Federal monster is gobbling up more and more and more land every year.

Well. I can see the cruznadians are having another of their pearl clutching moments. Get them their fainting couches asap!

As for the underlying issue, I happen to disagree with DT on this so far as it goes. I do think that we’ll get a better land policy under a Trump administration and perhaps something creative, like restarting the homestead program. One thing I find interesting about all this is the lack of discussion of how the states are going to do any better of a job managing western lands than the Feds.

All that said, if “western land management” were ranked by importance as an issue by voters, I doubt it would make the top 25.

While I initially was drawn to Trump a few months ago, it is clear Trump is a disaster waiting to happen. He has no clue, yet he expresses an opinion on everything and reveals himself to be a total asshat

We're going to be choosing between Sanders and Trump. All this is going to do is lower the voter count.

Here is the reality:

Donald Trump takes on federal land control

Forget China, guns or immigration. Donald Trump is taking on a new issue: federal land ownership.

In a new op-ed for the Reno Gazette-Journal, the Republican presidential front-runner rails against the draconian rule of the Bureau of Land Management and the Obama administration land grab in the western United States.

The BLM controls over 85 percent of the land in Nevada, Trump explains. In the rural areas, those who for decades have had access to public lands for ranching, mining, logging and energy development are forced to deal with arbitrary and capricious rules that are influenced by special interests that profit from the D.C. rule-making and who fill the campaign coffers of Washington politicians.

The wordsmithing is inaccurate.

There are many lands which are controlled by federal agencies, but very, very few of them are actually federal land. Most of it is state land, which falls under federal agency control.

Yeah, because federal employees never allow millions of gallons of toxic waste to escape abandoned mines in Colorado and pollute rivers and lakes.

Oh. Wait. Turns out I was wrong about that.
