Donald Trump dominates the Old Dominion, earning the support of 41% of likely GOP primary voters there. Marco Rubio is currently in second place at 27%, followed by Ted Cruz (14%), John Kasich (7%), and Ben Carson (7%).
Male voters give Trump (49%) a strong advantage over Rubio (23%) and Cruz (15%), while women more narrowly prefer to Trump (33%) to Rubio (30%). Trump leads among nearly every other demographic group, though, with some of his strongest support coming from voters who have only a high school education (54%).
"Trump said he loves the poorly educated and apparently they love him back," said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute.
Just over one-third (36%) of likely Republican primary voters say that they are completely decided on their candidate choice just days before Tuesday's election. Another 40% have a strong preference but are still open to considering other candidates. One-in-four either have only a slight preference (12%) or are really undecided (12%). More than half (53%) of Trump voters, though, say their vote choice is locked in.

I am seeing more and more states now with Trump getting over 40% of the vote. GO TRUMP GO
One more thing. Here is yet another poll with Cruz way behind in 3rd place.
Can't be...Rush just said in the last hour that Trump's not getting out of the low 30's anywhere...as he was cheerleading for Rubio and Cruz to go all out on Trump tonight.
Trump IS seeing his 'ceiling' rise all over the country, no matter what Rush says. After next week...and maybe even in some states next week...we're going to see Trump start hitting over 50%.
VA 41, WVa 40, FL 44. The other day Karl Rove was on FOX saying that Trump couldn’t possibly win the nomination because he can’t break out of the mid to high 30 range. Then he was again on FOX trying to deflate Trump after he won 45 percent in NV.
I’ll be willing to bet that Trump wins all but maybe 1 state on Super Tuesday, and most of his wins he’ll be in the 40’s and maybe a couple in the 50’s.
To get the nomination he has to have 1237 delegates, PLUS you have to have won 8 states with 50 percent or more.
Trump will get the largest amount of delegates, and he might get 2 states over 50 percent.
If Cruz and Rubio don’t win at least 2 or 3 states each, their campaigns will be on life-support.
“Can’t be...Rush just said in the last hour that Trump’s not getting out of the low 30’s anywhere”
Rush has totally lost it. I have really lowered my estimation of the man. This is after 26 years of listening to him and buying ties and Rush tea from him. Really sad to see.
I've never heard that before. So if you don't win 50% or more in 8 states, they'll disqualify you for that?
No, it then goes to a Brokered Convention...................
I give Trump the edge in these Super Tuesday states:
TN
VA
OK
AL
GA
AK
MN
MA
VT
VA
Edge to Cruz:
TX
CO? Probably Trump.
I’ve read that the states thing is not true, the candidate needs the delegates, that’s it.
The political processes in the US really suck.
Anyway here is the link if anybody wants to check it out.
They are calling it the Mitt Romney rule. Put in place in 2012 to disqualify Ron Paul from having his name placed in nomination.
What do you suppose the combined cost of Rubio and Cruz commercials on Rush per day vs Trump? Like he always says, follow the money.
Pray America wakes
He’s just showing what he truly is at the core. A company man. I knew it for sure when I heard him praise Bill Clinton on NAFTA. Which is doing exactly what I expected it would do. (open borders, illegals, etc.)
We keep on hearing brokered convention, brokered convention!
Even if it does go to a brokered convention from the outset, Trump would control the majority of the delegates. I predict Trump wins about 1,700 (he only needs 1,237) or higher of the 2,472 Republican delegates. Trump gets to pick his delegates so it’s not going to matter. Pretty simple math that Trump wins this fight too.
Thank you for that link.
It clarifies a question I had in my mind.
-
“... at least a majority of delegates in eight states ...”
-
I was aware of the 8-state rule,
but I did not know if they meant
a majority of the “votes” cast or
a majority of the “delegates” awarded.
Forty down, Fifty coming up! Love it!!! GO TRUMP!!!
Have there been any polls as to what supporters find so outstanding about Robot Rubio that they want him to be president? I can think of nothing.
After doing some checking, I’m not really sure if I got it right or not.
Rule 40 says:
any candidate for president âshall demonstrate the support of a majority of the delegates from each of eight (8) or more statesâ before their name is presented for nomination at the national convention.”
So, it sounds like to me that a candidate has to win at least 8 states by majority vote, which would be over 50 percent.
It says majority of delegates, not votes.
